11. Tumour stromal and demographical factors affecting the metastatic aggressiveness of small differentiated papillary thyroid cancers in Sweden
Sammanfattning : Background: The incidence of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) has been increasing over the recent decades, especially that of small papillary thyroid cancers (sPTCs) (≤ 20mm in size). sPTCs are generally classified as low risk cancers with a very favourable diagnosis, yet some of these cancers still cause locoregional and distant metastasis, recurrence and even death. 12. Staging and tumor biological mechanisms of lymph node metastasis in invasive urinary bladder cancer
Sammanfattning : Aim: To study the possibility of detecting lymph node metastasis in locally advanced urinary bladder cancer (UBC) treated with radical cystectomy (RC) by using preoperative positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and peroperative sentinel node biopsy (SNB) technique. We also investigate the clinical significance of macrophage traits expression by cancer cells, M2-macrophage infiltration (MI) in tumor stroma and the immunohistochemical expression of biomarkers in cancer cells in relation to clinicopathologic data. 13. Prehospital medical management in Swedish road tunnel incidents
Sammanfattning : Background: The complexity of modern road tunnel systems may delay an efficient rescue effort. Capable decision-making is needed to limit time to care. The Swedish ambulance commander, responsible for the on-scene ambulance personnel, may lack education and experience from managing road tunnel incidents. LÄS MER
14. Studies for Better Treatment of Patients with Glioma
Sammanfattning : In Sweden annually over 500 people will be diagnosed with the malignant brain tumor glioma. They are graded from I-IV. The majority are glioblastoma (grade IV) (GBM), these being the most aggressive type. Median survival for those treated with standard of care is expected to be around 15 months. LÄS MER
15. Procedural sedation : Aspects on methods, safety and effectiveness
Sammanfattning : Background: Safety and effectiveness are fundamental principles within the healthcare sector to provide quality of care and health improvement for patients. By ensuring that care is provided based on evidence-based knowledge, risks and complications can be minimised and the use of scarce resources optimised. LÄS MER
