11. A study of micro-particles in the dust and melt at different stages of iron and steelmaking
Sammanfattning : The dust particles generated due to mechanical wear of iron ore pellets and clusters formed in molten stainless steel alloyed with rare earth metals (REM) are considered in this study. Firstly, the influence of the characteristics of iron ore pellets, applied load on a pellet bed and partial reduction of the pellets on the size distribution of the generated dust was investigated. 12. Maximum likelihood detection for the linear MIMO channel
Sammanfattning : this thesis the problem of maximum likelihood (ML) detection for the linear multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel is considered. The thesis investigates two algorithms previously proposed in the literature for implementing the ML detector, namely semide nite relaxation and sphere decoding. LÄS MER
13. Highly Efficient CIGS Based Devices for Solar Hydrogen Production and Size Dependent Properties of ZnO Quantum Dots
Sammanfattning : Materials and device concepts for renewable solar hydrogen production, and size dependent properties of ZnO quantum dots are the two main themes of this thesis.ZnO particles with diameters less than 10 nm, which are small enough for electronic quantum confinement, were synthesized by hydrolysis in alkaline zinc acetate solutions. 14. Likelihood-Based Panel Unit Root Tests for Factor Models
Sammanfattning : The thesis consists of four papers that address likelihood-based unit root tests for panel data with cross-sectional dependence arising from common factors. In the first three papers, we derive Lagrange multiplier (LM)-type tests for common and idiosyncratic unit roots in the exact factor models based on the likelihood function of the differenced data. 15. Sediment sources and transport pathways, Lithuanian coastal zone
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents an investigation of recent sediments of the Lithuanian coastal zone, SE Baltic Sea. The main focus is upon the detailed documentation of grain size and mineralogy and the development of analytical methods using these essential and most common sediment parameters. LÄS MER
