  1. 21. Likelihood-Based Tests for Common and Idiosyncratic Unit Roots in the Exact Factor Model

    Författare :Martin Solberger; Rolf Larsson; Johan Lyhagen; Jean-Pieree Urbain; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :panel unit root; dynamic factors; maximum likelihood; Lagrange multiplier; likelihood ratio; factor analysis; Statistics; Statistik;

    Sammanfattning : Dynamic panel data models are widely used by econometricians to study over time the economics of, for example, people, firms, regions, or countries, by pooling information over the cross-section. Though much of the panel research concerns inference in stationary models, macroeconomic data such as GDP, prices, and interest rates are typically trending over time and require in one way or another a nonstationary analysis. 2. 22. Composite Likelihood Estimation for Latent Variable Models with Ordinal and Continuous, or Ranking Variables

    Författare :Myrsini Katsikatsou; Fan Yang-Wallentin; Irini Moustaki; Karl Gustav Jöreskog; Ruggero Bellio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; latent variable models; factor analysis; structural equation models; Thurstonian model; item response theory; composite likelihood estimation; pairwise likelihood estimation; maximum likelihood; weighted least squares; ordinal variables; ranking variables; lavaan; Statistics; Statistik;

    Sammanfattning : The estimation of latent variable models with ordinal and continuous, or ranking variables is the research focus of this thesis. The existing estimation methods are discussed and a composite likelihood approach is developed. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Some Aspects on Confirmatory Factor Analysis of Ordinal Variables and Generating Non-normal Data

    Författare :Hao Luo; Fan Yang-Wallentin; Johan Lyhagen; Karl Jöreskog; Marie Wiberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; confirmatory factor analysis; ordinal variables; maximum likelihood; weighted least squares; polychoric correlation; non-normal data; Fleishman s method; Monte Carlo simulation; Statistics; Statistik; Statistics; Statistik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis, which consists of five papers, is concerned with various aspects of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of ordinal variables and the generation of non-normal data. The first paper studies the performances of different estimation methods used in CFA when ordinal data are encountered. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Model-Based Optimization of Clinical Trial Designs

    Författare :Camille Vong; Mats O. Karlsson; Andrew C. Hooker; Lena E. Friberg; Marylore Chenel; Oliver Sander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nonlinear mixed-effects models; pharmacometrics; likelihood ratio test; NONMEM; power; sample size; study design; proof-of-concept; dose-finding; population optimal design; LOQ; BQL data; neutropenia; docetaxel; myelosuppression; thrombocytopenia; MTD; Bayesian methods; 3 3 algorithm; dose escalation study; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : General attrition rates in drug development pipeline have been recognized as a necessity to shift gears towards new methodologies that allow earlier and correct decisions, and the optimal use of all information accrued throughout the process. The quantitative science of pharmacometrics using pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic models was identified as one of the strategies core to this renaissance. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Optimal Near-field Antenna Apertures in Lossy Media

    Författare :Aidin Razavi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optimal near-field aperture; near-field focusing; near-field antennas; near-field power transfer; array signal processing.; maximum penetration;

    Sammanfattning : Antennas are traditionally designed for far-field applications such as wireless communications, radar, etc., where the antenna systems interact with other systems and objects which are located in the far-field zone of the antennas. LÄS MER
