1. Coated Ferritic Stainless Steels as Interconnects in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells - Material Development and Electrical Properties
Sammanfattning : Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are attracting increasing interest as devices with potentialuses in decentralized and clean electricity and heat production. Several challengeswith respect to materials have to be overcome to achieve efficiencies and life-spansthat are sufficient for long-term applications. LÄS MER
2. Neutron scattering for sustainable energy materials: investigations of proton dynamics in acceptor doped barium zirconates
Sammanfattning : Proton conducting oxides are currently receiving considerable attention for their present or potential use as electrolytes in technological devices such as sensors and electrolysers and, in particular, solid oxide fuel cells, which are among the most promising apparatuses for energy conversion. One of the main challenges for these latter devices is to combine the advantages of a solid electrolyte with those of operational temperatures below 750 °C, which is currently hampered by insufficient conductivities in the targeted temperature range. 3. Engineering of lignin in wood towards functional materials
Sammanfattning : Through 270 million years of evolution, the finely tuned hierarchical structure of wood has been optimized for efficient nutrient transport and exceptional mechanical stability. Its distinctive orthotropic constitution can provide inspiration and design opportunities for the development of novel functional materials. LÄS MER
4. Laser drilling of ceramic materials : energy distribution and crack development

5. Microstructure development and mechanical properties of cast and thermo-mechanically treated eutectic high-entropy alloys
Sammanfattning : The recently emerging high-entropy alloys (HEAs) present a novel alloying strategy, significantly expanding the scope of metal alloy design. Single-phase HEAs, nevertheless, suffer from the strength-ductility trade off as seen in conventional metallic materials. LÄS MER
