21. The spatial distribution of Lyman alpha from star-forming galaxies in the low redshift Universe
Sammanfattning : The Lyman alpha (Lyα) emission line from the recombination of hydrogen atoms is predicted to be the strongest spectral feature of galaxies. This emission line is regularly used to detect and characterise high redshift galaxies. However, studying this spectral line is challenging. LÄS MER
22. Searching for a charged Higgs boson and development of a hardware track trigger with the ATLAS experiment
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes searches for a heavy charged Higgs boson decaying into a top and bottom quark pair, and the development of a hardware track trigger with theATLAS experiment. The data for the two searches was collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC) with pp collision energies of √s = 8 and 13 TeV, and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 20. 23. Measurements of the Standard Model Higgs boson cross sections in the WW* decay mode with the ATLAS experiment
Sammanfattning : This thesis summarises measurements of the Standard Model Higgs boson production cross sections based on proton–proton collision data at √s = 13 TeV produced by the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. By analysing data collected during 2015 and 2016 by the ATLAS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 fb−1, the Higgs boson gluon–gluon fusion and vector boson fusion production cross sections are measured in the WW* decay mode. 24. Searches for Higgs bosons with hadronically decaying τ-leptons : Using Grid and Cloud computing techniques
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes a measurement of the Standard Model Higgs boson coupling to fermions in decays to two τ-leptons, a search for charged Higgs bosons in decays to a τ-lepton and a neutrino, as well as the reconstruction, identification and triggering of hadronically decaying τ-leptons. The data considered are collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. LÄS MER
25. Haystacks and Needles : Measuring the number of proton collisions in ATLAS and probing them for the production of new exotic particles
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes my work on the ATLAS luminosity measurement and on two searches for physics beyond the Standard Model, performed using √s = 13 TeV proton-proton (pp) collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at CERN during Run 2 of the LHC in the years 2015-2018ATLAS employs several detectors and methods to measure the relative luminosity and the absolute scale is determined using van der Meer scans during dedicated low-luminosity running periods in each year. The thesis presents the details of the track-counting method which is used to extrapolate the calibration to the high-luminosity physics data-taking regime. LÄS MER
