11. Laser-Based Investigations of Combustion Phenomena in Gas Turbine Related Burners
Sammanfattning : Experiments were performed on various combustion devices to investigate the flames employing different optical measurement techniques under atmospheric pressure conditions. Non-intrusive laser-based techniques provided in-situ information concerning different parameters of the combustion process, with a high degree of temporal and spatial resolution. LÄS MER
12. Advanced Laser-based Multi-scalar Imaging for Flame Structure Visualization towards a Deepened Understanding of Premixed Turbulent Combustion
Sammanfattning : The work presented in the thesis concerns the developments of laser-based diagnostics and its application to the study of turbulent premixed combustion. The diagnostic developments, mainly concerned with planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF), are intended to provide instantaneous visualization of the key species originating from the combustion processes involved in the burning of hydrocarbons and nitrogen-containing fuels under turbulent conditions. 13. On the Modeling of Premixed Combustion under Varying Equivalence Ratios
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with numerical simulation of reactive flows. The numerical method is three dimensional and unsteady, which allows for spatial and temporal resolution of most of the scales of the fluid motion and the reaction process. In the turbulent cases studied, scales down to Taylor scales are resolved. LÄS MER
14. CFD Modelling of Hydrogen Rich Biomass Syngas Combustion
Sammanfattning : The loss of biodiversity, due to pollution and global warming, is more important and relevant now than it has ever been. Man made climate warming has its roots in the huge amount of CH4 and CO2 emissions, which have increased by 47% and 156% respectively since 1750. LÄS MER
15. Numerical modeling of Swirling Flows in Gas Turbine Burners
Sammanfattning : The present thesis focuses on the numerical simulation of the flowfield in gas turbine burners. Due to the higher and higher requirements regarding pollutant emissions there is a need for new combustion technologies. In gas turbines one method to obtain low pollutant levels is the use of lean premixed or partially premixed combustion. LÄS MER
