  1. 1. Pharmaecological perspectives : Exposure studies using coastal Baltic Sea organisms

    Författare :Hanna Oskarsson; Linda Kumblad; Ann-Kristin Eriksson Wiklund; Johan Eklöf; Nina Cedergreen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pharmaceuticals; Baltic Sea; Mytilus edulis trossulus; Fucus vesiculosus; Ceramium tenuicorne; Gammarus spp.; Direct effects; Inter-specific interactions; marin ekotoxikologi; Marine Ecotoxicology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the effects of pharmaceutical substances on coastal Baltic Sea organisms. Despite an increasing awareness of the occurrence of pharmaceuticals in various aquatic compartments, current knowledge of their possible effects on non-target organisms is limited. 2. 2. On ash : a 12-year population ecological study of Fraxinus excelsior L., with special reference to some of its inter-specific interactions, in the deciduous woodland of the outer archipelago of Stockholm

    Författare :Per-Göran Tapper; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Fruiting in ash was irregular over the years. Years with abundant fruit production occurred as well as more or less barren years. The resource status of the trees had no decisive influence. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Uptake and toxicity of brominated flame retardants and pesticides : Studies on littoral organisms and model communities

    Författare :Kerstin Gustafsson; Nils Kautsky; Kirsten Christoffersen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aquatic ecotoxicology; ecological interactions; indirect effects; model community studies; toxicity; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, brackish and freshwater littoral model communities (microcosms) of varying size and complexity were used to study the effects of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and pesticides. The brackish water microcosms consisted of natural water, sediment and associated organisms, while the larger freshwater microcosms also contained submersed macrophytes (Elodea canadensis). LÄS MER

  4. 4. The importance of search behavior and movements for spatial distributions of herbivorous insects

    Författare :Petter Andersson; Peter Hambäck; Johan Ehrlén; Tomas Roslin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Olfactory search; Habitat heterogeneity; Species-traits; Immigration; Scaling relationships; Patch size; Plant-insect interactions; EAG; Odors; Pheromones; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Insect populations commonly show large spatial variation in density, and much variation have been shown to be explained by the search behavior applied by the insect when locating habitat patches. This thesis explores the importance of odor-mediated attraction for immigration rates of herbivorous insects in relation to the size of the patches and the density of host plants within the patches. 5. 5. Ecology of juvenile turbot and flounder in the Central Baltic Sea : Implications for recruitment

    Författare :Jesper Martinsson; Sture Hansson; Magnus Appelberg; Anders Nissling; Leif Pihl; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Psetta maxima; Platichthys flesus; juvenile; Baltic Sea; nursery ground; distribution; recruitment; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Our understanding of turbot and flounder ecology in the Baltic Sea is insufficient for sound management decisions. This thesis aims to fill some gaps in current knowledge by providing information of the ecology of turbot and flounder within their juvenile habitat, and to relate these findings to issues assumed relevant for recruitment variation.
