21. Spouses’ long-term support to midlife stroke survivors - Consequences in a health economic perspective
Sammanfattning : Spouses of midlife stroke survivors often experience demands on family roles and professional life due to the impact of stroke, however knowledge concerning spouses’ support and the long-term consequences for their own health is limited. Hence, the overall aim of this thesis was to describe the long-term effects health related quality of life (HRQoL) of spouses of midlife stroke survivors’ and the annual cost of the informal support provided. 22. Health economic studies on advanced home care
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to examine the cost-effectiveness of specific advanced home care and home rehabilitation interventions and to improve economic evaluation methods when applied to advanced home care. This included a comparison of two alternative ways of administering oxygen at home to patients with chronic hypoxaemia, as well as a review of scientific evidence on costs and effects of home rehabilitation after stroke. 23. Health economic aspects of stroke: stroke prevention and effects on spouses' healthcare consumption and income
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate two health economic aspects of stroke: (i) the clinical and cost-effectiveness of stroke prevention with left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) among persons with atrial fibrillation (AF) and contraindication to OAC, (ii) the long-term consequences of stroke on spouses' healthcare utilisation and financial situation and its potential impact in health economic evaluations. The long-term clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of LAAO among persons with AF and contraindications to OAC were estimated using a systematic review, meta-analysis, and a decision-analytic model.
