  1. 1. The Horizontal Ussing Chamber Method in Studies of Nasal Drug Delivery : Method Development and Applications Using Different Formulations

    Författare :Karin Östh; Anna-Lena Ungell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : The results from this thesis leads to the following conclusions; HUM is a useful tool that fills a gap in the in vitro methods previously available to study nasal drug delivery. Using HUM, the pig respiratory nasal mucosa can obtain acceptable viability and retain it longer than the period of time needed for a transport experiment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Olfactory Transfer of Analgesic Drugs After Nasal Administration

    Författare :Ulrika Espefält Westin; Erik Björk; Eva Brittebo; Margareta Hammarlund-Udenaes; Paolo Colombo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmaceutics; Nasal administration; Olfactory transfer; Olfactory pathways; Central nervous system; Blood-brain barrier; Nasal respiratory mucosa; Olfactory mucosa; Olfactory bulb; Horizontal Ussing chamber; Morphine; Dihydroergotamine; Rat; Mouse; Swine; Autoradiography; Viability; Powder formulations; Galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Nasal administration of analgesics for achieving rapid pain relief is currently a topic of great interest. The blood-brain barrier (BBB) restricts access to the central nervous system (CNS) for several central-acting drugs, such as morphine and dihydroergotamine, which results in a substantial effect delay. 3. 3. Mucosal Vaccination Using Polyacryl Starch Microparticles as Adjuvant with Salmonella enteritidis as a Model Pathogen

    Författare :Lena Strindelius; Ingvar Sjöholm; Mary Jo Wick; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; mucosal vaccination; polyacryl starch microparticles; salmonella enteritidis; flagellin; fimbriae; rCTB; LPS; Ussing chamber; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Polyacryl starch microparticles have been developed as a new mucosal vaccine adjuvant intended for use in oral vaccination. The main objectives of this thesis were to evaluate the efficacy of these polyacryl starch microparticles and to study their uptake through mucosal tissues. LÄS MER
