  1. 1. Redox effects on neutrophils in wound healing conducted by wound dressings and hyperbaric oxygen

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborg

    Författare :Herman Sahlin; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2003]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neutrophil granulocyte; wound healing; wound dressing; reactive oxygen species; NO; hyperbaric oxygen; bacterial killing;

    Sammanfattning : The increased influx of neutrophils into chronic wounds results in increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), nitric oxide (NO) and lipid peroxidation products (LPP), as well as a ROS-induced increase in protease levels. The NO and LPP impair the respiratory burst response of the neutrophils and reduce their capacity to kill bacteria and digest debris. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Negative Pressure Wound Therapy - Effects on Sternotomy Wounds and the Intrathoracic Organs

    Detta är en avhandling från Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Christian Torbrand; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2012]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NPWT; negative pressure; vacuum-assisted closure; sternotomy wounds; deep sternal wound infection; mediastinitis; thoracic surgery; pressure transduction; neurohormones; neuropeptides; total heart volume variation; cardiac output; wound contraction; macrodeformation;

    Sammanfattning : Popular Abstract in Swedish Bakgrund En till fem procent av de patienter som genomgår öppen hjärtkirurgi får en efterföljande infektion i operationssåret och bröstbenet. Infektionen kan leda till allvarliga komplikationer såsom blodförgiftning, organsvikt och i värsta fall till att patienten avlider. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy on Perivascular Groin Infections after Vascular Surgery. Wound Healing, Cost-Effectiveness and Patient-Reported Outcome

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University, Faculty of Medicine

    Författare :Christina Monsen; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2016]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Negative Pressure Wound Therapy NPWT ; Vacuum Assisted Closure; Surgical site infections; Groin; Quality of Life; Pain; Resource use; Cost-effectiveness; Content Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Background: Surgical site infection (SSI) in the groin after vascular surgery is common and deep perivascular infection leads to long periods of hospitalization, sometimes to amputation and/or death. Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is increasingly used for treating wounds such as deep perivascular groin infections after vascular surgery, but there is no scientific evidence supporting its benefit over traditional wound therapy.
