16. Clinical Pharmacokinetics of Small Doses of Ethanol : Role of Gastric Emptying and Other Influences in the Upper Gastrointestinal Tract
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the clinical pharmacokinetics of small doses of ethanol as influenced by conditions in the proximal gut. The bioavailability of orally administered ethanol depends to a large extent on gastric emptying, which is influenced by pre-treatment with drugs and other clinically relevant factors in the upper gastrointestinal tract. 17. Stent treatment of perforated duodenal ulcer - physiology and clinical aspects
Sammanfattning : Background The incidence of perforated duodenal ulcer is decreasing but still constitutes a life-threatening complication to peptic ulcer disease. Abdominal contamination from gastric or duodenal content occurs during perforations. LÄS MER
18. Role of corticotropin-releasing factor, somatostatin and leptin in vagal nerve function and control of gastric emptying
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to study the effects of centrally acting CRF and leptin, and peripherally acting somatostatin on gastric emptying of glucose. Freely moving rats bearing chronic intragastric fistulas received intragastric infusions (1.0 ml/min) of glucose (12.5 % or 25 %) during 6-18 min. LÄS MER
19. Reconstruction in the gastroesophageal junction- from routine to advanced
Sammanfattning : The general aim of the thesis was to contribute to a more evidenced based framework in the surgical treatment of diseases in the gastroesophageal junction (GEJ), by comparing outcome, measured by complication and survival rates, and evaluate different reconstructions regarding long-term symptoms and quality of life (QoL). The GEJ is a poorly defined anatomic area that represents the lower part of the esophagus and its’ junction to the proximal stomach. LÄS MER
20. Oesophageal Resection with Gastric Tube Reconstruction - A clinical study of a surgical method and its consequences on the upper gastrointestinal tract and survival
Sammanfattning : In a prospective randomised study following oesophagectomy and gastric tube reconstruction patients with hand-sutured neck anastomoses were compared with patients with circular stapled chest anastomoses. The two groups had equal rates of anastomotic or conduit leaks of 7.3 % (3/41) and 7.1 % (3/42) and of benign anastomotic strictures of 19. LÄS MER
