  1. 11. Swirl stabilized premixed flame analysis using of LES and POD

    Författare :Piero Iudiciani; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Precessing Vortex Core; Swirl stabilization; Lean Premixed Combustion; Proper Orthogonal Decomposition; Large Eddy Simulation;

    Sammanfattning : For environmental and human health reasons, the regulations on the emissions from combustion devices are getting more and more strict. In particular, it is important to abate the emission of pollutants deriving from combustion in gas turbines. A solution is the use of swirl stabilized, lean premixed combustion. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Upgrading Cellulose Networks: Conquering Limitations in Fiber Foams

    Författare :Eliott Jean Quentin Orzan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cross-linking; pore structure; cellular solid; lightweight; porous network; cellulose; flame-retardancy; fibers;

    Sammanfattning : The battle to create structural materials with low environmental impact demands the investiture of two champions: porous structures and cellulose substrates. The dominant solutions when constructing strong lightweight materials are plastic and metallic foams, while currently, cellulose fiber foams suffer from challenges which hamper their development. 3. 13. Entrained flow gasification of biomass: soot formation and flame stability

    Författare :Burak Göktepe; Kevin Whitty; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Entrained flow gasification (EFG) is a well-proven, commercially available technology for large scale coal gasification processes, with a production of a high quality syngas (a mixture of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H2), carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) and other compounds). For biomass, the process is still under development and there are several hurdles that must be cleared before it can become commercial. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Turbulent premixed flames in a model gas turbine combustor: fuel sensitivity and flame dynamics

    Författare :Francesco Pignatelli; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fuel flexibility; Premixed turbulent combustion; DNS; Optical diagnostic;

    Sammanfattning : The demand for energy security and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions has led to a surge of interest in the development of high-efficiency and low-emission gas turbine engines that can run on alternative low carbon content fuels, such as hydrogen-enriched fuel and syngas. However, the combustion characteristics of these fuels can significantly alter the flame characteristics and operability range of existing combustors. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Detailed Numerical Simulations of Turbulent Premixed Flames at Moderate and High Karlovitz Numbers

    Författare :Henning Carlsson; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Direct numerical simulation; Large eddy simulation; Turbulent premixed combustion; Flow-flame interaction; High Karlovitz number;

    Sammanfattning : In generally accepted and applied flamelet combustion models, a turbulent flame is mainly assumed distorted by the large-scale turbulence eddies, whereas small-scale turbulence effects on the local flamelet structures are neglected. However, in a lot of industrial applications rather high turbulent intensities are often imposed, which induce turbulence scales at ranges smaller than the flame thickness. LÄS MER
