  1. 6. Autonomic dysfunction in primary Sjögren's syndrome

    Författare :Thomas Mandl; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; autonomic dysfunction; Sjögren s syndrome; dysphagia; neuropathy;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this work were to evaluate objective and subjective signs of autonomic dysfunction (AD) in patients with primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS) and to evaluate its clinical associations. In study I, 46 pSS patients and 56/80/238 autonomic nervous function test (ANT) controls participated. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Coronary Heart Disease and Erectile Dysfunction

    Författare :Rasmus Borgquist; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; risk factors; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Erectile dysfunction; coronary heart disease;

    Sammanfattning : Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a common condition associated with a high mortality. There is now growing evidence that erectile dysfunction (ED) in men may be a suitable marker of sub-clinical cardiovascular disease, identifying patients at high risk for future CHD. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Left ventricular dysfunction in critically ill patients

    Författare :Oscar Cavefors; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Left ventricular dysfunction; Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction; hsTNT; NT-proBNP; Coronary angiography; Regional wall motion abnormalities; Takotsubo syndrome; Septic cardiomyopathy; MINOCA; Cardiac disease; Intensive care unit; Echocardiography;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Background: Cardiac dysfunction is common in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients and can contribute to multiorgan failure and death. Despite this, few studies have been performed on pathogenies, prevalence, diagnosis and impact on mortality in unselected ICU patients. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Neuromuscular injuries and pharyngeal dysfunction in snorers and sleep apnea patients : a study on pathological changes in the human soft palate and its relationship with swallowing dysfunction

    Författare :Farhan Shah; Per Stål; Sture Forsgren; Diana Berggren; Eva Svanborg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Axons; BDNF; desmin; dystrophin; obstructive sleep apnea; OSA; pharyngeal function; muscle; myopathy; neuropathy; Schwann cells; swallowing dysfunction; upper airway; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi; oto-rhino-laryngologi; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology; patologi; Pathology; molecular cell biology; molekylär cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a prevalent progressive sleep disorder with serious negative health consequences. Although several risk factors such as obesity can make an individual vulnerable to develop OSA, the pathophysiological mechanism for the collapse of the upper airway is unclear. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Therapeutic aspects of oral and pharyngeal swallowing dysfunction. Videoradiographic and videomanometric analyses of adult healthy volunteers and dysphagic patients

    Författare :Margareta Bülow; Malmö Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; Therapy; Videoradiography; Videomanometry; Dysphagia; Dysfunction; Swallowing; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Sammanfattning : In this study simultaneous videoradiography and intraluminal manometry (videomanometry) have been used in combination in three studies to analyze how different therapeutic strategies affect the physiology of swallowing in healthy volunteers and in patients with pharyngeal dysfunction. Analyses of healthy volunteers showed few significant measurable effects on the pharyngeal swallow. LÄS MER
