  1. 21. Forest water governance : challenges in cross-sectoral and multi-level collaboration

    Författare :Irina Mancheva; Katarina Eckerberg; Anna Zachrisson; Susan Baker; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Forest water; Governance; Cross-sectoral governance; Multi-level governance; Governance mode; Collaborative governance; Natural resource management; Environmental policy; Water Framework Directive;

    Sammanfattning : Forests and water are highly interconnected with forestry practices negatively affecting forest water. In the last five decades, the Swedish state has enacted multiple policy changes and allocated significant resources towards the implementation of soft policy instruments to alleviate the effects on forest water. 2. 22. Ecotoxicological classification of ash materials

    Författare :Sara Stiernström; Magnus Breitholtz; Christina Rudén; David Bendz; Olof Berglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ecotoxicity; ash; classification; leaching; Waste Framework Directive; CLP-Regulation; Hazard Identification; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Incineration of waste is increasing in the EU. However, in the incineration process, both fly and bottom ash materials are generated as waste that requires further action. A common goal throughout Europe is to find ways to utilize ash materials in an environmentally and economically efficient manner in accordance with the current legislation. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Modern landfill leachates – quality and treatment

    Författare :Hanna Modin; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Heavy metals; European Landfill Directive; Biodegradation; Landfill leachate; Leaching tests; Multivariate data analysis; Organic matter; Sorption filters;

    Sammanfattning : Waste management in Europe has changed, mainly as a result of stricter regulations, most notably the European Landfill Directive 1999/31/EC. In Sweden, landfill tax and a ban on the landfilling of waste with total organic carbon content over 10 % have diverted large amounts of waste from landfills. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Stream monitoring using near-infrared spectroscopy of epilithic material

    Författare :Jan Persson; Ingemar Renberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Streams; environmental monitoring; Water Framework Directive; water quality; biological impact; epilithic material; near-infrared spectroscopy; diatoms; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The European Union Water Framework Directive (WFD), with initiatives to manage surface water resources, has increased the need for fast and inexpensive methods for monitoring conditions in streams. The objective of this thesis is to assess the potential of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) of epilithic material to become such method. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Unravelling Sustainability : The complex dynamics of emergent environmental governance and management systems at multiple scales

    Författare :Lucas Dawson; Ingrid Stjernquist; Marine Elbakidze; Raimonds Ernsteins; Stockholms universitet; []
