16. Recalcitrance of wood to biochemical conversion : feedstock properties, pretreatment, saccharification, and fermentability
Sammanfattning : Lignocellulose is an inexpensive and abundant renewable resource that can be used to produce advanced biofuels, green chemicals, and other bio-based products. Pretreatment and efficient enzymatic saccharification are essential features of bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass. LÄS MER
17. Pre-Extraction of Wood Components Mild hydrothermal methods for a future materials biorefinery
Sammanfattning : Today there is an increasing urgency in discovering new, and more sustainable, replacements for fossil-based materials and chemicals. The biorefinery concept is promising in this context in that it relies on transforming biomass into a spectrum of commercial products. Wood is the primary bioresource in Scandinavia. LÄS MER
18. Microdialysis as a Tool in Studies of L-Dopa and Metabolites in Malignant Melanoma and Parkinson’s Disease
Sammanfattning : A model with human melanoma xenografts transplanted to athymic mice has been adopted for in vivo studies of 5-S-cysteinyldopa (an intermediate pigment metabolite), glutathione, and cysteine. L-Dopa is an intermediate metabolite in pigment formation and is also important in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, and therefore 1 have also studied the pharmacokinetics of this compound. 19. Influence of hypoxia on differentiation and proliferation of non-malignant and tumor cells
Sammanfattning : Solid tumors are less oxygenated than their tissue of origin. Low intra-tumor oxygen levels are associated with worse outcome, increased metastatic potential and immature phenotype in breast cancer. We have reported that tumor hypoxia correlates to low differentiation status in breast cancer. LÄS MER
20. Adsorption of Metallic Ions onto Chitosan : Equilibrium and Kinetic Studies
Sammanfattning : Equilibrium isotherms and the adsorption kinetics of heavy metals onto chitosan were studied experimentally. Chitosan, a biopolymer produced from crustacean shells, has applications in various areas, particularly in drinking water and wastewater treatment due to its ability to remove metallic ions from solutions.
