  1. 1. Wearable sensors for monitoring epilepsy and Parkinson´s disease

    Författare :Dongni Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epilepsy; Parkinson’s disease; Wearable sensors; Continuous and objective monitoring; End users’ perceptions; Qualitative content analysis; Machine learning algorithms; Tonic-clonic seizure detection; Dose titration; Motor state recognition;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease (PD) are conditions where management would benefit greatly from monitoring symptoms over longer time periods in natural everyday environments instead of only intermittent assessments at clinics. Wearable technology with built-in sensors such as accelerometers and gyroscopes, could allow continuous and objective long-term monitoring of movement patterns. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Imaging neurochemical changes associated with Parkinson´s disease and L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia using mass spectrometry

    Författare :Elva Fridjonsdottir; Per E. Andrén; Miles Trupp; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mass spectrometry imaging; MALDI; Parkinson´s disease; L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia;

    Sammanfattning : Parkinson’s disease (PD), caused by a loss of midbrain dopamine neurons, is the second most common neurodegenerative disease worldwide after Alzheimer’s disease. The primary treatment choice for PD is L-DOPA, the precursor for dopamine, which only affects symptoms and does not inhibit disease progression. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Self-management support to handle everyday life with Parkinson´s disease

    Författare :Carina Hellqvist; Carina Berterö; Peter Hagell; Märtha Sund-Levander; Nil Dizdar Segrell; Stefan Sävenstedt; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parkinson’s disease; self-management; everyday life; self-care support; care partners; self-management intervention;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Being diagnosed with Parkinson´s disease (PD) is a life-altering experience. The long-term condition requires continuous adjustments to the everyday life not only of the person affected, but also for care partners. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Clusterin in brain and cerebrospinal fluidin Alzheimer s disease

    Författare :Anna-Maria Nilselid; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Alzheimer s disease; clusterin; apolipoprotein J; SP-40; brain tissue; cerebrospinal fluid; glycosylation; biomarker; enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay;

    Sammanfattning : The apolipoprotein clusterin is suggested to be involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer¡¦s disease (AD). At the start of these studies, results had indicated that clusterin was elevated in AD brain, compared with controls. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Role of Neuroinflammation in Parkinson's Disease and Related Disorders

    Författare :Edoardo Brandi; Neural plasticitet och reparation; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alpha synuclein; Preformed fibrils; Microglia; Astrocyte; Neuroinflammation; Lipopolysaccharides; Parkinson Disease; Lewy Body Dementia; Multiple system atrophy; Synucleinopathies;

    Sammanfattning : Synucleinopathies are neurodegenerative disorders characterized by intracellular protein aggregates, progressive neurodegeneration, and neuroinflammation. Alpha-synuclein (a-syn) is the principal component of intracellular aggregates and can be modified by several mutations and post-translational modifications (PTMs), which can alter the protein structure affecting its aggregation, toxicity, and ability to spread.
