6. On the weightless economy: Evaluating ICT sectors in the European, Asian and African regions
Sammanfattning : One of the most distinctive characteristics of the weightless economy is the increasingly important role of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sectors, which, according to the OECD (2009), consist of ICT products and media and content products. The ICT sectors have been identified as contributing significantly to the economy through production, measured by the value of the ICT outputs produced and the spillover effects to the other sectors, and the diffusion due to the higher penetration rate of ICT products and services and the impact of the end-users. 7. Decision-making in SME internationalization : The role and use of Control in decisions made under the uncertainties of foreign market expansion
Sammanfattning : Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) make the backbone of virtually all economies but most of them are only marginally engaged with global markets, particularly those from developing countries. Our ability to advise these firms is currently limited for two major reasons: on the one hand, conventional International Business literature treats the firm as a black box and does not advance in decision-making dynamics that are critical to SMEs' foreign expansion; on the other, recent SME internationalization studies have achieved important progress but seem dependent on the use of Effectuation theory to represent the decisions that guide SME internationalization. 8. Closing the quality gap : investigating health system bottlenecks and quality improvement strategies for maternal and newborn care in Sub Saharan Africa, focusing on Tanzania
Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Despite substantial gains in survival in the past three decades, around 200,000 maternal deaths, 1 million newborn deaths and 1 million stillbirths occur annually in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA). The majority of these could be averted by effective medical interventions, but implementation in the context of under-resourced health systems is a challenge. LÄS MER
9. Regional Intermodal Transport Systems : Analysis and Case Study in the Stockholm-Mälaren Region
Sammanfattning : The global trend of urbanization is evident and also valid in Sweden and for the Stockholm-Mälaren region, also referred to as the Mälaren valley, a region consisting of metropolitan Stockholm and areas around the lake of Mälaren. In this context, efficient urban freight transportation has emerged as essential for sustainable development of urban areas. LÄS MER
10. Elastic and inelastic scattering effects in conductance measurements at the nanoscale : A theoretical treatise
Sammanfattning : Elastic and inelastic interactions are studied in tunnel junctions of a superconducting nanoelectromechanical setup and in response to resent experimental superconducting scanning tunneling microscope findings on a paramagnetic molecule. In addition, the electron density of molecular graphene is modeled by a scattering theory approach in very good agreement with experiment. LÄS MER
