  2. 2. Holocene climate and atmospheric circulation changes in northern Fennoscandia : Interpretations from lacustrine oxygen isotope records

    Författare :Christina E. Jonsson; Gunhild Rosqvist; Jan Seibert; Philip Barker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oxygen isotope; diatom silica; lake sediment; atmospheric circulation; North Atlantic Oscillation; northern Fennoscandia; The Holocene; Little Ice Age; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates how variations in the oxygen isotopic composition of lake waters in northern Fennoscandia are recorded in lake sediment archives, especially diatoms, and how these variations can be used to infer past changes in climate and atmospheric circulation. Results from analyses of the oxygen isotopic composition of lake water samples (δ18Olakew) collected between 2001 and 2006 show that δ18O of northern Fennoscandian lakes is mainly controlled by the isotopic composition of the precipitation (δ18Op). 3. 3. Cytokines and immune balance in preeclampsia : a survey of some immunological variables and methods in the study of preeclampsia

    Författare :Yvonne Jonsson; Christina Ekerfelt; Göran Berg; Leif Matthiesen; Lucia Mincheva-Nilsson; Linköpings universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Preeclampsia is one of the most feared pregnancy complications, with a risk of maternal and fetal death and with no ideal therapy readily available. The cause of this strictly pregnancyrelated disease is still unknown and is therefore a great challenge to all researchers in the field of pregnancy-related pathophysiology. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Aspects of physical activity in Rheumatoid Arthritis : associations with inflammation and cardiovascular risk factors

    Författare :Kristina Hörnberg; Solveig Wållberg Jonsson; Björn Sundström; Christina Helging Opava; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; physiotherapy; rheumatoid arthritis; cardiovascular disease; aerobic capacity; physical activity; exercise; primary prevention;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD), partially attributable to systemic inflammation and traditional risk factors for CVD. Since physical activity (PA) is strongly related to CVD in the general population, the aim of this thesis was to describe aspects of PA in patients with RA, and further to analyse associations with disease activity, traditional risk factors for CVD and subclinical atherosclerosis.
