    Sammanfattning : In the strive to find and develop sustainable bio-based materials an increased interest for nanocellulosic materials as attractive alternatives has arisen during the past decades. This can be attributed to their abundant renewability, remarkable inherent mechanical properties and their capability to be chemically modified. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Cellulose-water interaction: a spectroscopic study

    Författare :Erik L Lindh; István Furó; Lennart Salmén; Lisbeth G Thygesen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cellulose; water; hydrogen exchange; deuterium; NMR spectroscopy; FT-IR spectroscopy; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The human society of today has a significantly negative impact on the environment and needs to change its way of living towards a more sustainable path if to continue to live on a healthy planet. One path is believed to be an increased usage of naturally degradable and renewable raw materials and, therefore, attention has been focused on the highly abundant biopolymer cellulose. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Water-assisted mixing and compression moulding of ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer reinforced with nano-cellulose

    Författare :Abhijit Venkatesh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : The concerns regarding aspects of global warming, depleting oil resources, accumulation of plastics in landfills has served as motivation to move towards utilizing sustainable and renewable resources to fulfil our needs. In the present work, the reinforcing capabilities of cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) and modified/unmodified cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) based composites prepared through water-assisted mixing, drying and compression moulding was explored. 4. 24. Cellulose nanofibril materials with controlled structure : the influence of colloidal interactions

    Författare :Andreas Fall; Lars Wågberg; Anna Finne Wistrand; Paul Gatenholm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Colloidal stability; cellulose nanofibrils; nanofibers; nanostructured materials; biocomposite; DLVO; gel;

    Sammanfattning : Nanoparticles are very interesting components. Due to their very large specific surface area they possess properties in between molecules and macroscopic materials. In addition, a material built up of hierarchically assembled nanoparticles could obtain unique properties, not possessed by the nanoparticles themself. LÄS MER
