21. Characterisation of Structural and Catalytic Properties of Pd Grown on MgO
Sammanfattning : In heterogeneous catalysis research, extended single-crystal surfaces of catalytic metals have been largely used to study fundamental aspects of, e.g., gas adsorption and desorption. LÄS MER
22. Surface structure and catalytic activity of Pd and Fe oxide surfaces and thin films
Sammanfattning : The present work is devoted to atomic scale structural studies of the surfaces of model heterogeneous catalysts relevant to oxidation reactions. A novel approach using high-energy surface X-ray diffraction combined with mass-spectrometry measurements is employed to perform in situ structural characterization of Pd(100) and Pd(553) single crystal surfaces acting as catalysts in the process of CO oxidation under semirealistic conditions. 23. Microstructural Changes in Deactivated Noble Metal Catalysts
Sammanfattning : The structural deactivation of supported noble metal catalysts has been investigated for treatments at different temperatures and in different atmospheres. The sintering rates of Pt/Al2O3, Rh/Al2O3, and Pt-Rh/Al2O3 catalysts were measured using temperature-programmed desorption of CO (CO-TPD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). LÄS MER
24. Astrochemistry at Millimetre and Submillimetre Wavelengths
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is a series of observational tests, aiming to clarify the chemical and physical origin of interstellar molecules. Spectral lines at millimetre and submillimetre wavelengths, caused by rotational transitions in CO, H2O, NH3, CH3OH, CH3SH, C2H3CN, and several of their isotopologues, have been observed towards regions of star-formation in the Galaxy. 25. Experimental investigations of model catalytic surface reactions on metal and metal oxide surfaces
Sammanfattning : In the development of renewable energies catalysis plays an important role, for example in the production of H2 gas that drives fuel cells, or in the decomposition of annoying by-products of renewable energy production. Most catalysts and catalytic processes currently used in the industry have their roots in macroscopic empirical investigations and trial and error-based optimization. LÄS MER
