11. The Entheses of the Medial Meniscns and Ligaments of the Knee Joint : Descriptive and Experimental Studies
Sammanfattning : Meniscal injuries are common in sports. Surgical removal of the meniscus to relieve symptoms is associated with a high risk for late knee joint osteoarthrosis and pain. Meniscal repair or replacement has therefore been advocated. LÄS MER
12. Characterising Dental Implant Surfaces by Topographical, Electrochemical, and Biomechanical Methods
Sammanfattning : Replacement of extracted teeth by dental implants was first introduced in the 1950’s. From the beginning, threaded titanium implants with smooth surfaces were used. Later on, screw shaped implants with micro-scaled roughened surfaces were introduced showing bone ingrowth and improved in vivo and in vitro results and good long term stability. LÄS MER
13. Biomechanical and Clinical Aspects on Fixation Techniques in the Cervical Spine
Sammanfattning : The present work is analyzing the general biomechanical aspects of fixation techniques in the upper and lower cervical spine along with clinical implications. The in vitro biomechanical properties of five different posterior atlanto-axial fixation techniques are compared. LÄS MER
14. Acute Achilles tendon rupture: The impact of physiological and psychological factors on function and return to activity
Sammanfattning : Unfortunately, there is no guarantee of a full return to physical activity after an Achilles tendon rupture. About 20% of those who sustain the injury do not return to their previous level of physical activity. Although the reasons for this have been examined, no definitive conclusion has been reached. 15. Injury Biomechanics in Car-Pedestrian Collisions: Development, Validation and Application of Human-Body Mathematical Models
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to develop and validate human-body mathematical models which can be used to simulate the dynamic responses of pedestrians in a car impact. The main focus has been on simulations of bumper impact to the lower extremities, since lower extremity injuries most frequently occur in car-pedestrian accidents and result in long-term consequences and high social costs.
