  1. 21. Whiteness and Fluorescence in Paper : Perception and Optical Modelling

    Författare :Ludovic Gustafsson Coppel; Per Edström; Håkan Olin; Caisa Johansson; Markku Hauta-Kasari; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paper Whiteness; Fluorescence Whitening Agents; Kubelka-Munk; light scattering; paper industry applications; Colour Appearance Models; CIECAM02; Monte Carlo; Optics; Optik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about modelling and predicting the perceived whiteness of plain paper from the paper composition, including fluorescent whitening agents. This includes psycho-physical modelling of perceived whiteness from measurable light reflectance properties, and physical modelling of light scattering and fluorescence from the paper composition. Sammanfattning : Development of silicon based electronics have revolutionized our every day life during the last three decades. Nowadays Si based devices operate close to their theoretical limits that is becoming a bottleneck for further progress. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Quantum optics with artificial atoms

    Författare :Anton Frisk Kockum; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; surface acoustic waves; transmon; circuit QED; photon detector; parity measurement; quantum stochastic calculus; Quantum optics; artificial atoms; quantum measurement;

    Sammanfattning : Quantum optics is the study of interaction between atoms and photons. In the eight papers of this thesis, we study a number of systems where artificial atoms (here, superconducting circuits emulating the level structure of an atom) enable us to either improve on known concepts or experiments from quantum optics with natural atoms, or to explore entirely new regimes which have not been possible to reach in such experiments. 4. 24. Detector Development, Source Characterization and Novel Applications of Laser Ion Acceleration

    Författare :Lovisa Senje; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser; Ion; Acceleration; Proton; Water; Sheath; Lifetime; Laser; Ion; Acceleration; Proton; Water; Radiolysis; Sheath; Detector; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Senje;

    Sammanfattning : The main focus of the work presented in this thesis is on experimental studies oflaser acceleration of protons and other positive ions from solid targets. The topic is explored from three different angles: firstly, the development of diagnostics adapted to the ion pulses, secondly, the characterization of the source of the energetic particles and, finally, the application of laser-accelerated protons for time-resolved radiolysis of glass and water. 5. 25. Optical Memories and Processing in Time- and Frequency Domain

    Författare :Baozhu Luo; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optical storage; photon echo; spectral hole burning; nonlinear optics; fiber amplifier; logical operation; phase retrieval; polarization holographic recording and retrieval; optical processing; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Luo;

    Sammanfattning : Spectral hole burning and photon echoes are the techniques for frequency-selective optical memories, which have the potential to increase areal data storage density by a factor 10**7. They also have the capability to perform in-memory data processing. LÄS MER
