1. Development and Studies of the Processes Involved in Minor Enantiomer Recycling
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development and rationalization of processes involved in a new methodology developed in our group, minor enantiomer recycling. The first part of the thesis addresses mechanistic studies of one of the reactions involved in minor enantiomer recycling, dual Lewis acid-Lewis base catalyzed acetylcyanation of aldehydes. 2. Optical parametric amplification with periodically poled KTiOPO4
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the use of engineered nonlinear crystals from the KTiOPO4 (KTP) family as the gain material in optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs), with the aim to achieve more knowledge about the benefits and limitations of these devices. The work aims further at extending the possible applications of OPAs by constructing and investigating several efficient and well performing amplifiers. LÄS MER
3. Targeting molecules for diagnostics of Head and Neck squamous cell carcinoma
Sammanfattning : To personalize treatment for cancer, correct staging of the primary tumor, nodal disease and metastatic disease is of essence. By targeting tumor specific receptors with radiolabeled antibodies, specificity and accuracy of imaging may be improved. LÄS MER
4. Human papillomavirus in sinonasal inverted papilloma, recurrent respiratory papilloma and non-malignant tonsils
Sammanfattning : Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is known to cause recurrent respiratory papilloma (RRP) and certain types of oropharyngeal cancer. HPV has also been associated with sinonasal inverted papilloma (SIP). LÄS MER
5. Recurrent events and secondary prevention after acute cerebrovascular disease
Sammanfattning : Background Patients who experience a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) are at high risk of recurrent stroke, but little is known about temporal trends in unselected populations. Reports of low adherence to recommended treatments indicate a need for enhanced secondary preventive follow-up to achieve the full potential of evidence-based treatments. LÄS MER
