  1. 16. User-Centred Design and Technology-Mediated Services- Identifying and Addressing Challenges by Analysing Activities

    Författare :Oskar Rexfelt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; technology-mediated services; product development; user requirements; User-centred design; service development; user studies;

    Sammanfattning : User-centred design has a focus on designing products to satisfy user needs rather than emanating from a technological starting point. Understanding user needs when developing products is considered a key component to achieve market success today.User-centred design is almost always described as a way to design products that satisfy user needs. 2. 17. The Use of GIS in Assessing Exposure to Airborne Pollutants

    Författare :Emilie Stroh; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NOx; air pollution; GIS; Exposure assessment; Lead; NO2;

    Sammanfattning : GIS (Geographical Information System) has become a valuable tool in air pollution exposure assessment studies due to its abilities to accurately model and estimate exposure for large populations and areas. The general aim of the work presented in this thesis was to investigate the factors that affect the validity and precision in the assessment of human exposure to airborne pollution using GIS. 3. 18. Expression in Live Coding: Gestural Interaction for Machine Musicianship

    Författare :Georgios Diapoulis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; music perception; live programming; liveness; music interaction; live coding; music information retrieval; gestural control; musical interfaces; expressive interaction; music performance;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is centered on the performance practice of musical live coding, which can be described as on-the-fly decision-making for computer music performance and blurs the lines between programming languages and computer interfaces. I specifically focus on live coding as a human activity based on serial skilled actions, and I discuss how we can interact gesturally with interfaces that are modified dynamically. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Analysing Sustainable Urban Transport and Land-Use : Modelling tools and appraisal frameworks

    Författare :R. Daniel Jonsson; Lars-Göran Mattsson; Anders Karlström; Paul Waddell; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sustainable development; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Sustainable development and climate change is high on the agenda for most cities around the world today. Urban transport is at the heart of these changes. Increasingly, it is recognised that not only is the emission of pollutants and greenhouse gases a problem, but also the detrimental effects of congestion and social exclusion. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Road Design for Future Maintenance : Life-cycle Cost Analyses for Road Barriers

    Författare :Hawzheen Karim; Björn Birgisson; Ulf Isacsson; Rolf Magnusson; Robert Thomson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; road maintenance; road management; road planning; road design; life-cycle cost; road barrier; guardrails; cable barrier; road traffic injuries; barrier collisions and barrier repair costs.; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur; Vägprojektering för minskade drift- och underhållskostnader;

    Sammanfattning : The cost of a road construction over its service life is a function of design, quality of construction as well as maintenance strategies and operations. An optimal life-cycle cost for a road requires evaluations of the above mentioned components. LÄS MER
