  1. 11. Cystatin C in the Eye and in Specific Model Systems

    Författare :Johan Wasselius; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ophtalmology; protein uptake; ciliary body; lens; cornea; retina; eye; Cystatin C; cathepsin B; Oftalmologi;

    Sammanfattning : It is a necessity of life to make proteins, and it is an equal necessity to degrade those proteins, to eliminate dysfunctional proteins, and leave room for new ones. The processes of protein synthesis and degradation into peptides - proteolysis - have attracted a great interest during the last decades. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Driver behavior models for evaluating automotive active safety: From neural dynamics to vehicle dynamics

    Författare :Gustav M Markkula; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; simulation; active safety; control behavior; system evaluation; Driver models;

    Sammanfattning : The main topic of this thesis is how to realistically model driver behavior in computer simulations of safety critical traffic events, an increasingly important tool for evaluating automotive active safety systems. By means of a comprehensive literature review, it was found that current driver models are generally poorly validated on relevant near-crash behavior data. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Fatal car crash configurations and injury panorama : with special emphasis on the function of restraint system

    Författare :Mats Lindquist; Ulf Björnstig; Anders Kullgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Surgery; Deep studies; fatal crashes; small overlap; human FE-modeling; body kinematics; real life safety; Kirurgi; kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Most traffic safety research projects require accurate real world data which is collected in different databases around the world. This is especially important since the results of these projects form the basis for new crash test procedures and standards. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Furniture for Later Life: Design Based on Older People’s Experiences of Furniture in Three Housing Forms

    Författare :Oskar Jonsson; Industridesign; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Furniture design; Product experiences; Human-furniture relationships; User-centered design; Aging population;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis in industrial design concerns the challenges and possibilities in meeting demographic shifts and the presumed expectations of today’s and tomorrow’s older generations. The background is the lack of furniture that responds to the demands of older consumers and the lack of knowledge about relationships between people and furniture in their home environments and in various forms of elderly care environments.
