  1. 1. Fatal car crash configurations and injury panorama : with special emphasis on the function of restraint system

    Författare :Mats Lindquist; Ulf Björnstig; Anders Kullgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Surgery; Deep studies; fatal crashes; small overlap; human FE-modeling; body kinematics; real life safety; Kirurgi; kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Most traffic safety research projects require accurate real world data which is collected in different databases around the world. This is especially important since the results of these projects form the basis for new crash test procedures and standards. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Injuries among the elderly : study of fatal and non-fatal injury events

    Författare :Harmeet Sjögren; Ulf Björnstig; Anders Eriksson; Pat Waller; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : In view of the expected increase in the proportion of elderly in the population in most western countries, we studied injuries among the elderly (>60 years) by investigating hospital-treated injuries in inpatients and outpatients, and fatal injuries.One-year Hospital Injury Data - Even though the elderly made up only 15% of the injured in one year, they accounted for 42% of the total cost of trauma medical care, showing that injuries among the elderly place a disproportional burden on the health care system. Sammanfattning : Introduction: Approximately 1.25 million people globally are killed in traffic accidents yearly. To achieve the UN Global Goal of a 50% reduction of fatal and serious injuries in 2020 a safer infrastructure, as well as new safety technologies, will be needed. Side crashes represent 20% of all serious and 25 % of fatal injuries. LÄS MER
