  1. 6. Observing Sea Level Using Reflected Global Navigation Satellite System Signals

    Författare :Johan Löfgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tide gauge; Global Navigation Satellite Systems; ocean tides; reflected signals; sea-level monitoring;

    Sammanfattning : Sea-level rise due to global warming is predicted to have a large impact on human society, especially for populations living in coastal regions and on islands. It is therefore of great importance to monitor the sea level and to increase the understanding of the local hydrodynamic and meteorological responses to a global sea-level rise. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Late Quaternary Biostratigraphy and Paleoceanography of the central Arctic Ocean

    Författare :Daniela Hanslik; Martin Jakobsson; Marit-Solveig Seidenkrantz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic Ocean; Quaternary; biostratigraphy; foraminifera; paleoceanography; Other earth sciences; Övrig geovetenskap; Marine Geoscience; marin geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The central Arctic Ocean is one of the least explored deep sea regions and long biostratigraphic sediment records are sparse. The main focus of this thesis is the Arctic Ocean foraminiferal record and its application to reconstruct paleoceanographic variations and summer sea ice cover changes between late Quaternary interglacial periods. 3. 8. Mapping bathymetry : From measurement to applications

    Författare :Benjamin Hell; Martin Jakobsson; Michele Rebesco; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ocean and coastal mapping; Digital Bathymetric Model; Geographical Information System; Applications of bathymetric data; Baltic Sea; Arctic Ocean; Seafloor morphology; Ocean circulation; Other earth sciences; Övrig geovetenskap; Marine Geoscience; marin geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Surface elevation is likely the most fundamental property of our planet. In contrast to land topography, bathymetry, its underwater equivalent, remains uncertain in many parts of the World ocean. Bathymetry is relevant for a wide range of research topics and for a variety of societal needs. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Resource and Environmental Impacts of Resource-Efficiency Measures Applied to Electronic Products

    Författare :Hampus André; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; scarce metals; life cycle assessment; resource-efficiency; electronic products; resource depletion; circular economy; metal resource use;

    Sammanfattning : Natural resources such as ecosystems, land, water and metals underpin the functioning of economies and human well-being, and are becoming increasingly scarce due to growth in population and affluence. Metals are increasingly demanded for their specific properties as modern technology develops. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Predicting Ecosystem Response from Pollution in Baltic Archipelago areas using Mass-balance Modelling

    Författare :Olof Magnus Karlsson; Andreas Bryhn; Lars Håkanson; Per Jonsson; Mikael Malmaeus; Kristoffer Naes; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Baltic Sea; archipelagos; aquatic ecosystems mass-balance modelling; sediment-water dynamics; phosphorus; dioxins; PCDD Fs; Other earth sciences; Övrig geovetenskap; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Baltic archipelago areas have high nature values despite being polluted from various antrophogenic activities within the Baltic Sea catchment area and from long-range transport of airborne substances. The discovery of environmental problems in the Baltic Sea in the 1960s led to countermeasures that gradually gave results in reducing the toxic pollution, e. LÄS MER
