17. Accident Risk and Environmental Assessment : Development of an Assessment Guideline with Examination in Northern Scandinavia
Sammanfattning : In environmental impact assessment (EIA), accident risk should be considered as one impact. However, few studies have compared assessed risk levels with documented accidents. There is thus a need for assessing accuracy of risk assessment methodologies. LÄS MER
18. Ice Sheet, Climate, and Landscape Interactions in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica
Sammanfattning : The impact of glaciers and ice sheets on the subglacial landscape are of fundamental importance for studies of glacial history and landscape development, both in previously glaciated areas and in areas that are glaciated today. The thesis concerns the present and past erosive capacity of the ice sheet in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica. LÄS MER
19. ToF-SIMS as a tool for analysing organic material in geological samples -Fluid inclusions and beyond
Sammanfattning : In situ analysis of organic material in rocks has potential to answer questions in geochemistry, astro- and geobiology. Recently, successful studies which included in situ analyses of geological samples with time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) were carried out. LÄS MER
20. Environmental Assessments of Landscape Changes : Interdisciplinary studies in rural Tanzania
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to show how biogeophysical and social processes are interlinked in landscape change, and to propose approaches for interdisciplinary environmental assessments (such as EIAs), concentrating on developing countries’ situations, and representation of findings from such studies. Landscape in its holistic sense is a very good concept and basis for intellectual and practical use in environmental dialogues. LÄS MER
