Sammanfattning : The serendipitous discovery of the potent cytotoxic properties of cisplatin brought about a revolution in the treatment of certain types of cancer, but almost fifty years later, there still remain unknown areas in the chemistry of cisplatin. Sammanfattning : Reactions of trans-dicyanodichloroaurate(III) trans-dibromodicyanoaurate(III), trans-diamminedichlorogold(III), cis-diammine(aqua)chloroplatinum(II), cis-ammineaqua-(cyclohexylamine)chloroplatinum(II), chloro(terpyridine)platinum(II) and chloro-(diethylenetriaminepalldium(II) with dimethyl sulfide, thionucleosides, thionucleotides and thione- and guanine-containing 17-mer oligonucleotides have been investigated by use of conventional and high-pressure stopped-flow spectrophotometry and HPLC technique as a function of ionic strength, pH, temperature and pressure in aqueous solutions. The mechanism and rate of oxidation of dimethyl sulfide by gold(III) complexes depends on the concentration of free halide. LÄS MER

From a medical perspective, nucleotide metabolism, and in particular salvage pathway enzymes, have attracted special interest, as nucleoside prodrugs given in the treatment of cancer and HIV are converted into their active metabolite forms by these enzymes. 5. Quantitative analysis of DNA adducts formed by some epoxides of industrial importance
Sammanfattning : The work presented herein has focused on DNA adduct formation by three industrial epoxides, allyl glycidyl ether, propylene oxide and epichlorohydrin. Epoxides, owing to the strained oxirane ring are chemically reactive and can alkylate various sites in DNA. LÄS MER
