    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to explore psychiatric disorders in Swedish elite athletes.The first study investigates a) the prevalence of symptoms of psychiatric disorders, b) the prevalence of mental health problems, defined by psychological suffering and impairment>2 weeks, c) the usefulness of sport-specific instruments in indicating clinical levels of psychiatric symptoms, and d) the life history of psychiatric disorders. Young adulthood (here 16-25 years) constitutes a vulnerable period for weight gain, poor weight loss results, and mental health problems. Up to 8.3% of Swedish young adults are classified as obese.     Sammanfattning : Background: Concerned significant others (CSOs) of individuals with problematic alcohol- or substance use show increased levels of psychiatric and somatic ill-health, social and economic problems and exposure to violence. Children growing up with at least one parent with problematic alcohol-/substance use have increased risks of a variety of problems, such as own substance use problems, low school performance, internalized and externalized problem behaviors and mental health problems.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this doctoral thesis was to investigate the efficacy of three internet interventions for alcohol problems: (1) high-intensity internet treatment (ePlus) compared to (2) an unguided low-intensity internet treatment (eChange) and waiting list (WL) conditions, for people with AUD (Study I, with a long-term follow-up in Study II), and (3) an internet-based version of CRAFT for concerned significant others (CSOs) to individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) (Study III). The primary outcomes in Study I and Study II were two measures of the participants’ alcohol consumption: number of standard drinks per week and number of heavy drinking days (HDDs) per week. LÄS MER
