  1. 1. Neutrophil recruitment in H. pylori induced inflammation: characterization of regulatory factors

    Författare :Mikael Innocenti; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Helicobacter pylori; endothelial cells; neutrophils; monocytes; transendothelial; migration; chemokines; cytokines; adhesion molecules inflammation; LPS; CagPAI; VacA;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium colonizing the human gastric mucosa, is strongly associatedwith the development of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as gastric, adenocarcinoma.Virtually all infected individuals develop active chronic gastritis characterized by a continousinfiltration of neutrophils as well as mononuclear cells. 2. 2. T cells in colon cancer; migration and effector functions

    Författare :Louis Szeponik; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Treg; CRC; TIL; nSMase2; Transendothelial migration; Unconventional T cells;

    Sammanfattning : Immune cells are recognised as one of the main players in the tumor microenvironment and targeted by many new cancer therapies. Regulatory T cells (Treg) can suppress tumor infiltrating lymphocytes which are associated with a better patient outcome. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Transmigration of Toxoplasma gondii across biological barriers

    Författare :Emily C. Ross; Antonio Barragan; Ildiko Rita Dunay; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Apicomplexa; blood-brain barrier; leukocyte; immune cell; transendothelial migration; cell adhesion molecule; host-pathogen; FAK; integrin; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that can likely infect all warm-blooded vertebrates, with estimates of up to 30% of the global human population being infected. Although infection with T. gondii is usually asymptomatic or mild, in immunocompromised individuals infection can lead to lethal toxoplasmic encephalitis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mechanisms of transendothelial and tissue transport in the peritoneum. Experimental studies on rat

    Författare :Bert-Inge Rosengren; Njurmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nefrologi; Urologi; hyaluronan; interstitium; blood flow; rat; pore; inhibition; temperature; peritoneal dialysis; permeability; capillary; protein; passive; active; transport; transcytosis; vesicle; Urology; nephrology; small solute;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, the quantitative role of active transport (transcytosis) in bulk transvascular protein movement in vivo was evaluated. Using chemical transcytosis inhibition (N-ethylmaleimide (NEM) and filipin), we were able to show that NEM actually increases endothelial permeability to macromolecules, probably as a result of unspecific toxic action on endothelial cells. 5. 5. Capillary and interstitial transport of fluid and solutes across the peritoneal membrane

    Författare :Ola Carlsson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; vascular resistance.; capillary pressure; aquaporins; Capillary permeability; vesicular transport; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Sammanfattning : According to the three-pore model of peritoneal transport the major exchange pathway between the blood and the peritoneal cavity is represented by “small pores”, permeable to small solutes and water. Osmotically induced fluid flow, as during peritoneal dialysis (PD), is postulated to occur to a great extent through a water-only pathway, whereas proteins are predicted to reach the peritoneal cavity by unidirectional convection across “large pores”.
