16. Early life determinants of socioeconomic and health inequalities : life course studies within and across generations
Sammanfattning : The role of the early life social and maternal environments in the production of health inequalities was widely documented in the past few decades but the underlying mechanisms were often subject to suboptimal analytic practices. The developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD) paradigm came with a promise to better document the early life programming of adult diseases, with an emphasis on the postnatal modifiers of prenatal influences. 17. Single-cell transcriptomic analyses of early embryonic development and developmental programming by androgen excess
Sammanfattning : Infertility is a compelling problem an increased prevalence among couples. Although multiple causes have been hypothesized to increase the risk of infertility, changes in lifestyles and environment are the possible links to the causes. LÄS MER
18. Spectral Inheritance : Unlearning the Maturity-trope
Sammanfattning : Drawing on continental and decolonial feminist philosophy, Spectral Inheritance: Unlearning the Maturity-trope addresses the centrality of the notions of “maturity” and “development” in discussions of human subjectivity, temporality and ethics. Building on Sylvia Wynter’s framework, the dissertation proposes to read the Euromodern genres of Man in developmental terms. LÄS MER
19. Stress in chickens : Effects of domestication and early experience on behaviour and welfare
Sammanfattning : The domestication is the process where animals have adapted to human conditions. A prerequisite for domestication is tame behaviour towards humans and subsequently, selection for other desirable traits took place which led to changes in several behavioural and physiological parameters. 20. Non-genetic processes in development and heredity
Sammanfattning : There is a swiftly increasing amount of empirical evidence that non-genetic factors, such as DNA methylation and small RNAs, play an important role not only in development but also in heredity and, therefore, evolutionary dynamics. One of the most interesting aspects of non-genetic processes is their responsiveness to environmental conditions, which has been shown to affect not only the phenotype and fitness of the individuals directly exposed to the stimulus, but also their offspring even when the stimulus is no longer present, indicating that the transmission of non-genetic factors across generations might work analogously to immunization against recurring conditions.
