11. Charged Higgs Bosons at the ATLAS Experiment and Beyond
Sammanfattning : In the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, direct searches for the elusive Higgs boson will be conducted, as well as for physics beyond the Standard Model. The charged Higgs boson (H±) is interesting both as a part of the Higgs sector, and as a clear sign of new physics. LÄS MER
12. Measurements of Angular Correlations in Minimum Bias Events and Preparatory Studies for Charged Higgs Boson Searches at the Tevatron and the LHC
Sammanfattning : Studies of minimum bias events at colliders probe the behavior of QCD in the non-perturbative regime. The phenomenology of events in this regime is described by empirical models that take many parameters, which all need to be tuned to the observed data. LÄS MER
13. Moiré Exciton Landscape and its Optical Properties in Two-Dimensional Semiconductors
Sammanfattning : In recent years the emergence of atomically thin nanomaterials has led to a new research venue, revealing intriguing properties making them an excellent platform to study many-particle quantum phenomena. Of particular interest is the class of nanomaterials called transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), where the strong light-matter coupling reveals promising opportunities in the pursuit of novel optoelectronical devices. 14. Calibration of b-tagging and search for Dark Matter : Calibration of b-tagging efficiency and search for Dark Matter production in association with heavy flavour quarks with the ATLAS experiment
Sammanfattning : The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the most powerful and complex particle accelerator ever built. The ATLAS and the CMS are the two multipurpose particle detectors at the LHC, designed to cover a wide range of physics measurements. LÄS MER
15. Measurements of luminosity and a search for dark matter in the ATLAS experiment
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis presents contributions to the luminosity measurement from the data recorded by the ATLAS detector in 2017 using a track-counting technique, as well as a search for dark matter in the ATLAS experiment using 139 fb-1 of √s = 13 TeV pp collision data delivered by the LHC from 2015 to 2018. Track-counting luminosity measurements in low-luminosity operations are performed to study the effect of low collision rates on luminosity determination. LÄS MER
