1. Searches for Higgs bosons with hadronically decaying τ-leptons : Using Grid and Cloud computing techniques
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes a measurement of the Standard Model Higgs boson coupling to fermions in decays to two τ-leptons, a search for charged Higgs bosons in decays to a τ-lepton and a neutrino, as well as the reconstruction, identification and triggering of hadronically decaying τ-leptons. The data considered are collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. LÄS MER
2. Charged Higgs Bosons at the ATLAS Experiment and Beyond
Sammanfattning : In the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, direct searches for the elusive Higgs boson will be conducted, as well as for physics beyond the Standard Model. The charged Higgs boson (H±) is interesting both as a part of the Higgs sector, and as a clear sign of new physics. LÄS MER
3. Measurements of Angular Correlations in Minimum Bias Events and Preparatory Studies for Charged Higgs Boson Searches at the Tevatron and the LHC
Sammanfattning : Studies of minimum bias events at colliders probe the behavior of QCD in the non-perturbative regime. The phenomenology of events in this regime is described by empirical models that take many parameters, which all need to be tuned to the observed data. LÄS MER
4. Searches for the Charged Higgs at Hadron Colliders Based on the Tau Lepton Signature
Sammanfattning : The Standard Model of particle physics has been very successful in predicting a wide range of phenomena and has so far been confirmed by all existing data to a very high precision. The work described in this thesis tests the limits of validity of the Standard Model (SM) in two areas believed to be sensitive to deviations from the theory: the observation of unpredicted particles and CP violation. 5. Hunting the Charged Higgs Boson with Lepton Signatures in the ATLAS Experiment
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents searches for a charged Higgs boson (H±) in proton-proton collisions with center-of-mass energies of 7 TeV and 8 TeV, using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Multiple search channels are used with the common characteristic of at least one charged lepton (electron or muon) that effectively reduces the multi-jet background and is used for efficient triggering.
