1. Constructing and Commissioning HELIOS – A High Harmonic Generation Source for Pump-Probe Measurements with sub 50 fs Temporal Resolution : The Development of Experimental Equipment for Extreme Ultraviolet Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents HELIOS, an in-house laboratory for time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy with extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) probe radiation. A wide span of pump wavelengths can be generated using commercial laser equipment while XUV probe radiation is generated via a high harmonic generation process in a noble gas delivering probe photons with energies between 20 eV and 72 eV. 2. Time of Flight Estimation for Radio Network Positioning
Sammanfattning : Trilateration is the mathematical theory of computing the intersection of circles. These circles may be obtained by time of flight (ToF) measurements in radio systems, as well as laser, radar and sonar systems. A first purpose of this thesis is to survey recent efforts in the area and their potential for localization. LÄS MER
3. Investigation and calibration of pulsed time-of-flight terrestrial laser scanners
Sammanfattning : This thesis has two aims. The first one is the investigation and analysis of the errors occurring in the measurements with pulsed time-of-flight (TOF) terrestrial laser scanners (TLS). A good understanding of the error sources and the relationships between them is necessary to secure the data accuracy. LÄS MER
4. Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Applications of Spectroscopy in the Photon Migration Regime
Sammanfattning : The present thesis is devoted to two different matters: One part is the development of a novel optical technique for characterisation of solid pharmaceutical materials. The other part being the continued development of photon time-of-flight spectroscopy, as well as exploration of new application areas of this method. LÄS MER
