  1. 21. Exploring Cellular Dynamics : From Vesicle Tethering to Cell Migration

    Författare :Parham Ashrafzadeh; Johan Kreuger; Jonas Fuxe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; angiogenesis; cancer; cell migration; exocyst complex; exocytosis; FGD5; lipid rafts; plasma membrane; receptor trafficking; VEGFR2;

    Sammanfattning : Cells in the body communicate with each other in order to cooperate efficiently. This communication is in part achieved by regulated secretion of signaling molecules, which when released from a cell may activate receptors present at the plasma membrane of an adjacent cell. Such signals affect both cell fate and behavior. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Bonaderna från Överhogdal

    Författare :Ruth Horneij; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Överhogdal; church; cover; warp-weighted loom; soumak; doubleweave; bizarre animal figures; Revelation of John; Ragnarök; Yggdrasil; Viking Age; Christian influence; Medeltiden; Bonader-- Textilhistoria -- Jämtland -- Överhogdal -- 800-1100-talen; Vävnader-- Sverige -- Jämtland; Vävnadskonst-- historia -- Sverige -- Jämtland; Ikonografi-- Sverige;

    Sammanfattning : The subject of this dissertation is the renowned cover found in 1910 in a store-shed belonging to the church in Överhogdal, Härjedalen—a part of Norway until 1645. The cover consisted of five pieces carelessly sewn together, later to be separated and numbered Ia, Ib, II, III, and IV. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Architecture and function of the insulin granule secretion machinery

    Författare :Peng Yin; Sebastian Barg; Herbert Gaisano; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Docking; Syntaxin-1A; Voltage-gated Ca2 Channels; Exocytosis; Type-2 Diabetes;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin is released into the blood stream to normalize elevated blood glucose, for example after a meal. The hormone is synthesized by β-cells in the endocrine pancreas, and stored in small vesicles, known as secretory granules, until required. When glucose is elevated, these granules undergo regulated exocytosis and thereby secrete the hormone. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Studies of SNAP-25 in regulated membrane fusion : metabolic consequences and tuning of intracellular Ca(2+) dynamics in beta cells

    Författare :Teresa Daraio; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Increased release of insulin is usually regarded as a symptom of metabolic syndrome, contributing to insulin resistance in peripheral organs thus affecting glucose and insulin homeostasis. The existing animal models to address the metabolic syndrome are currently not optimal. LÄS MER

  5. 25. New Approaches for Chemical Analysis of Single Cells and Vesicles

    Författare :Johan Dunevall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Electrochemistry; Analytical chemistry; Chemistry; Exocytosis; Catecholamines;

    Sammanfattning : Exocytosis is the major cell-to-cell communication process in the nervous system, involving the conversion of an electrical signal (e.g. action potential) to a chemical one. Signaling molecules like neurotransmitters, hormones and/or peptides are stored in vesicles inside the cell. LÄS MER
