1. Post-translational modifications in DNA base excision repair : The roles of CK2 and PARP-1
Sammanfattning : Base lesions and DNA single-strand breaks (SSBs) are very common types of DNA damage. The base excision repair (BER) and single-strand break repair (SSBR) machineries both require a succession of enzymatic events in order to remove these types of endogenous lesions and to restore the DNA. 2. DNA double-strand break repair in ascomycetes
Sammanfattning : Nonhomologous end joining (NHEJ) and homologous recombination (HR) are two pathways for DNA double strand break (DSB) repair. We found that the NHEJ protein Nej1 interacted physically with the HR protein Srs2, which was dependent on phosphorylation of Nej1 by Dun1. Srs2 recruitment to a DSB partly relied on Nej1 and Dun1. 3. Recognition and signaling of DNA double-strand breaks in human cells
Sammanfattning : DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) are the most toxic type of DNA damage. Fortunately, our cells have highly conserved pathways that detect and repair DSBs. Defects in DSB signaling and DSB repair pathways result in genomic instability that predisposes for cancer development. LÄS MER
4. Characterization of Budding Yeast Nonhomologous End-Joining at DNA Double-Strand Breaks and Telomeres
Sammanfattning : The yeast K. lactis efficiently integrates DNA by illegitimate recombination (IR). IR was completely dependent upon nonhomologous end-joining (NHEJ). In contrast to S. LÄS MER
5. Molecular factors relevant to the radiosensitivity of human tumours
Sammanfattning : Oncogenes, activated copies of normal cellular genes, are involved in carcinogenesis and have been suggested to be determinants of cellular radiosensitivity (RS). Mutations and gene rearrangement of c-Ha-RAS and c-MYC oncogenes were analysed in 70 biopsies and 51 blood samples from the same patients and compared with RS estimated by the clinical tumour response and by response to irradiation of tumour samples using subrenal capsule assay.
