  1. 21. The role of past and present management in the seed dispersal of grassland plants in the rural landscape

    Författare :Alistair Auffret; Sara Cousins; Per Milberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The destruction and fragmentation of semi-natural grasslands due toagricultural industrialisation during the past 150 years has had seriousconsequences for biodiversity in the rural landscape. Currently, plantcommunities are usually better explained by historical than by presentday landscape configurations, and the ability for plant species todisperse in space and in time, within and between remaining habitatfragments or to restoration sites will be an important factor in thefuture diversity in the landscape. 2. 22. Seed mobility and connectivity in changing rural landscapes

    Författare :Alistair G. Auffret; Sara Cousins; Robin Pakeman; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The success or failure of many organisms to respond to the challenges of habitat destruction and a warming climate lies in the ability of plant species to disperse between isolated habitats or to migrate to new ranges. European semi-natural grasslands represent one of the world's most species-rich habitats at small scales, but agricultural intensification during the 20th century has meant that many plant species are left only on small fragments of former habitat. 3. 23. Linear infrastructure habitats for the conservation of plants and pollinators - The value of road verges and power-line corridors for landscape-scale diversity and connectivity

    Författare :Juliana Dániel Ferreira; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The substantial reduction in the area of semi-natural grasslands due to the intensification of agriculture and silviculture has resulted in a dramatic decline of species that depend on these habitats. Simultaneously, the area of grassland habitats along infrastructure such as power lines and roads continues to increase and can even surpass the area of semi-natural grasslands of high nature value. 4. 24. Local and regional dynamics of Succisa pratensis

    Författare :Mikael Mildén; Johan Ehrlén; Ove Eriksson; Juha Tuomi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plant ecology; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Land use change is considered to be one of the biggest threat to global species diversity. In Sweden, abandonment of grazing is one of the most common reasons for decline in species richness in semi-natural grasslands. Today semi-natural grasslands often occur as more or less isolated fragments. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Plant species diversity patterns in a Swedish rural landscape : effects of the past and consequences for the future

    Författare :Sara A. O. Cousins; Roy Haines-Young; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Plant species richness in rural landscapes is threatened as grassland management ceases or changes, and as many remaining semi-natural grasslands are becoming increasingly fragmented. This thesis is a study of plant species diversity in a rural landscape in south-eastern Sweden, and its relationship to management history and landscape pattern. LÄS MER
