  1. 21. Using Light to Probe Surface Electrochemical Processes

    Författare :Weronica Linpe; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrochemistry; X-ray methods; In situ; synchrotron radiation; Ex situ; Single crystal; polycrystalline; aluminium oxide; Au; Pd; Pt; Sn; Super duplex stainless steel.; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Linpé;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis shows how various light-based in situ techniques can be used to follow different surface electrochemical processes such as electrochemical deposition into Nanoporous Anodic Aluminium Oxide (NP-AAO) templates and the surface structure of electrodes. Techniques based on both x-rays and visible light were used to follow surface structures and compositions, in situ. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Probing Atomic Scale Structure and Catalytic Properties of Cobalt Oxide Model Catalysts

    Författare :Alif Arman; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Nyckelord :catalysis; model systems; Co3O4 111 ; Co3O4 100 ; CoO 111 ; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; Scanning tunneling microscopy; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Arman;

    Sammanfattning : Cobalt oxides are known to be active catalysts for a number of chemical reactions, but very little is known about the atomic scale processesresponsible for the activity. The research presented in this thesis is focused on obtaining an atomic scale understanding of the chemistry of wellcharacterizedcobalt oxide model catalyst surfaces consisting of pristine and defective CoO and Co3O4 thin films with the (111) and (100)terminations supported by Ag(100), Ir(100), and Au(111) single crystal surfaces. 3. 23. Development of a new generation of 12% Cr steels: Z-phase strengthened steels

    Författare :Masoud Rashidi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; atom probe tomography; Z-phase; 9-12% Cr steels; martensitic steels; transmission electron microscopy; precipitation hardening; creep;

    Sammanfattning : Fossil-fuel fired steam power plants provide more than 60% of the electricity generated worldwide, and account for about one third of the global CO2 emissions. The thermal efficiency of the steam power plants is limited by the maximum allowed steam temperature and pressure, which in turn are determined by the long-term corrosion and creep resistance of economically viable materials. 4. 24. Heterogenization of a Cobalt Porphyrin Catalyst Investigated by Scanning Probe Microscopy and X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy: The Effect on Catalysis of Oxidation Reactions

    Författare :Greger Ledung; Sven Oscarsson; Claire-Marie Pradier; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Other chemical engineering; Övrig kemiteknik; Bioteknik kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Construction of advanced materials through self-assembly on the molecular level is an important route to achieve novel functionality. Self-assembly of thiols onto gold has during the last decades shown greate promise in the creation of functional nanomaterials, such as sensors or catalysts, but for many applications silicon should be a better substrate since it offers semiconducting properties and better processing abilities in addition to being cheaper. 5. 25. DFT calculations of initial localized corrosion of aluminum : Influence of aqueous ad-layer, chloride ions, and intermetallic particles

    Författare :Min Liu; Jinshan Pan; Ying Chen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aluminum alloys; alumina; chloride; surface adsorption; aqueous ad-layer; localized corrosion; corrosion initiation; work function; micro-galvanic effect; density-functional theory; Volta potential; scanning kelvin probe force microscopy; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Localized corrosion of aluminum (Al, here including Al alloys) involves a series of physico-chemical processes at the interface between the metal and the aqueous ad-layer or the aqueous solution. The mechanisms that govern localized corrosion are quite complex and have been the subject of many experimental studies. LÄS MER
