26. Potential Use of Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage System in Arid Regions
Sammanfattning : After the Oil Crises in 1973, which meant higher energy costs, the world started to look for other sources of energy. This led to the development of renewable energy techniques. Because of the intermittent nature of renewable energy, storage systems were also developed. LÄS MER
27. Change agency in (old) industrial regions : Shaping new futures
Sammanfattning : The aim of the dissertation is to develop a better understanding of the role of local agency in the transformation of old industrial regions. Theoretically the dissertation builds on concepts which are important in the debate on regional development in old industrial regions such as path dependency, negative lock-ins, the role of institutions, and new path development, while exploring and unpacking the role of agency. 28. Soil Remediation and Sustainable Development : Creating Appropriate Solutions for Marginalized Regions
Sammanfattning : The scope of this doctoral thesis is appropriate soil remediation methods for marginalized regions that go beyond pollution reduction targets and include strategies to support sustainable development. Contaminated soil from industrial or agricultural activities poses potential health threats to animals and humans and also threatens economic systems by making land unsuitable for agriculture and other economic purposes. 29. CO studies of Herbig-Haro regions
Sammanfattning : High resolution CO (J=1-0) observations of HH 7-11 in NGC 123? and the region around Lk Ha 224 in NGC 7129, using the 25m Millimeter Wave Telescope at Onsala, Sweden, have resulted in detailed maps. These dark cloud regions, forming stars of low to intermediate mass, show signs of shock excitation, identified as Herbig-Haro objects and H?0 masers. LÄS MER
30. Imaging spectropolarimetry of solar active regions
Sammanfattning : Solar magnetic fields span a wide range of spatial scales from sunspots and plages to magnetic bright points. A clear understanding of the physical processes underlying the evolution of these magnetic features requires high-resolution spectropolarimetric observations of solar active regions and comparisons with synthetic data from simulations.
