  1. 1. Hydrological Modeling for Climate Change Impact Assessment : Transferring Large-Scale Information from Global Climate Models to the Catchment Scale

    Författare :Claudia Teutschbein; Jan Seibert; Chris Kilsby; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bias Correction; Climate Change; Climate Models; Ensembles; GCM; HBV; Hydrological Modeling; Precipitation; RCM; Split Sample Test; Streamflow; Sweden; Temperature; Uncertainty; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : A changing climate can severely perturb regional hydrology and thereby affect human societies and life in general. To assess and simulate such potential hydrological climate change impacts, hydrological models require reliable meteorological variables for current and future climate conditions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Impact of Climate Change on Extreme Events: Insights from Asia and Scandinavia

    Författare :Dong An; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; extreme events; precipitation extremes; droughts; climate variability; ENSO; climate model; climate projection; the Asia-Pacific region; scandinavia;

    Sammanfattning : As climate has warmed significantly over past decades, numerous studies have confirmed a pattern of more frequent and more intense hydro-climate events across the globe, such as floods, heatwaves, and droughts. Analyzing the variability of climate events with reliable historical data records is one of the most direct approaches for understanding its patterns of change. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Sustainable Urban and Regional Development and Related Ecosystem Services and Water-Climate Interactions

    Författare :Jessica Faye Page; Zahra Kalantari; Georgia Destouni; Bev Wilson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; urban planning; regional planning; sustainable cities; nature-based solutions; climate change; planning support systems; sustainable development; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : To accommodate a growing global population while mitigating climate change, urban areas must grow while minimising environmental impacts. To achieve this, a city must be treated as a complex socio-ecological system in which many actors and subsystems act in unclear and unpredictable ways. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Changes in near-surface winds across Sweden over the past decades - Observations and simulations

    Författare :Lorenzo Minola; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mean and gust wind speed; stilling-reversal phenomena; regional climate models; climate reanalyses; ERA5; parametrization; NAO; extratropical cyclones; surface roughness; Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : Driven by a combination of anthropogenic activities and climate changes, near- surface terrestrial winds displayed a large decrease in their magnitude in the past decades, named “stilling”, and a recent recovery in their slowdown. Understanding how wind has changed and identifying the factors behind the observed variabilities is crucial so that reasonable future wind scenarios can be constructed. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Atmospheric & Oceanic Applications of Eulerian and Lagrangian Transport Modelling

    Författare :Joakim Kjellsson; Kristofer Döös; Jonas Nycander; Joseph LaCasce; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Eulerian; Lagrangian; trajectory; climate; atmosphere; ocean; modelling; drifter; thermodynamic; climate change; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents several ways to understand transports of air and water masses in the atmosphere and ocean, and the transports of energy that they imply. It presents work using various kinds of observations as well as computer simulations of the atmosphere and oceans. LÄS MER
