6. CONTRIBUTION TO QUANTITATIVE MICROWAVE IMAGING TECHNIQUES FOR BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS
Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents a contribution to quantitative microwave imaging for breast tumor detection. The study made in the frame of a joint supervision Ph.D. thesis between University Paris-SUD 11 (France) and Mälardalen University (Sweden), has been conducted through two experimental microwave imaging setups, the existing 2. 7. Methodological aspects of quantitative cardiac molecular imaging
Sammanfattning : The objective of this research was to facilitate the use of quantitative cardiac molecular imaging by developing and validating methods and applications. More specifically:we determined the optimal tracer kinetic model for analysis of 11C-PIB and evaluated the performance of two simpler measures, retention index (RI) and standardized uptake value (SUV), in the quantification of cardiac 11C-PIB uptake in amyloidosis. 8. The initial atmospheric corrosion of copper and zinc induced by carboxylic acids : Quantitative in situ analysis and computer simulations
Sammanfattning : Degradation of metals through atmospheric corrosion is a most important and costly phenomenon with significant effects on, e.g., the lifespan of industrial materials, the reliability of electronic components and military equipment, and the aesthetic appearance of our cultural heritage. 9. Eliciting Knowledge from Experts in Modeling of Complex Systems : Managing Variation and Interactions
Sammanfattning : The thematic core of the thesis is about how to manage modeling procedures in real settings. The view taken in this thesis is that modeling is a heuristic tool to outline a problem, often conducted in a context of a larger development process. LÄS MER
10. Quantitative analysis of tumor growth and response to therapy
Sammanfattning : Modeling the natural growth of tumors is of value for evaluation of tumor progression and optimization of treatment strategies. However, modeling tumor growth based on clinical data is hampered by the limited data available, since therapy is in general initiated as early as possible after diagnosis. LÄS MER
