  1. 1. Geometric distortions in MRI based radiotherapy and PET/MRI

    Författare :Josef Lundman; Tufve Nyholm; Anne Larsson; Jörgen Olofsson; Marco Riboldi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Magnetic resonance imaging; MRI; PET MR; PET MRI; medical imaging; radiotherapy; geometrical distortions; MR-only; MRI-only; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) offers high soft-tissue contrast compared to computed tomography (CT). This contrast is helpful in many cases, not least for delineating tumours for radiotherapy treatment, and has led to increasing use in radiotherapy treatment planning (RTP). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Error reduction strategies for quantitative PET with focus on hybrid PET/MRI

    Författare :Elin Wallstén; Anne Larsson; Jan Axelsson; Katrine Riklund; Ronald Boellaard; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Positron emission tomography; PET; PET MR; PET MRI; medical imaging; partial-volume effect; attenuation correction; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Sammanfattning : Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is an important tool for detection, staging and follow-up in a wide range of diseases, including cancer and neurological disorders. As a functional imaging tool, PET can visualize biological processes, where positron emitting radioactive isotopes are connected to molecules with different functions in the body. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Assessment of attenuation correction methods for quantitative neuro-PET/MR

    Författare :Joao M. Sousa; Mark Lubberink; Lieuwe Appel; Håkan Ahlström; Mathias Engström; Ivo Rausch; Radiologi Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PET; MRI; attenuation correction; 68Ge transmission; quantification; 11C-PE2I; MRAC; DAT; CBF; Medicinsk radiofysik; Medical Radiophysics;

    Sammanfattning : Hybrid PET/magnetic resonance (MR) can provide physiological, functional, and structural information simultaneously, facilitating research in neurological disorders. For quantitative PET, correction for photon attenuation (AC) is necessary. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Methodological aspects of quantitative cardiac molecular imaging

    Författare :Tanja Kero; Mark Lubberink; Håkan Ahlström; Elin Trägårdh; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :PET; cardiac amyloidosis; 11C-PIB; retention index; standardized uptake value; PET-MR; MRI; myocardial blood flow; 15O-water; quantification; quantitative modeling;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this research was to facilitate the use of quantitative cardiac molecular imaging by developing and validating methods and applications. More specifically:we determined the optimal tracer kinetic model for analysis of 11C-PIB and evaluated the performance of two simpler measures, retention index (RI) and standardized uptake value (SUV), in the quantification of cardiac 11C-PIB uptake in amyloidosis. 5. 5. Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Techniques in Diabetes

    Författare :Lina Carlbom; Håkan Ahlström; Olle Korsgren; Olof Eriksson; Lars Johansson; Tove Grönroos; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Positron emission tomography; Magnetic resonance imaging; Magnetic resonance spectroscopy; Type 1 diabetes; Type 2 diabetes; PET MR; Pancreas transplantation; Perfusion; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In order to further advance the field of diabetes research there is a great need for establishing validated non-invasive quantitative techniques to study the pancreas and other tissues of importance for blood glucose regulation. The general aim of this thesis was to explore magnetic resonance techniques and positron emission tomography as such tools. LÄS MER
