26. Outcome and risk factors after aortic valve interventions
Sammanfattning : In the present study the long-term survival and morbidity and the associated risk factors after aortic valve replacement (AVR) and after aortic balloon valvuloplasty were evaluated. In a cohort of 2,359 consecutive patients undergoing primary aortic valve replacement, the early mortality was 5.6%. LÄS MER
27. Hemocompatibility of materials for use in prosthetic heart valves
Sammanfattning : Thromboembolism (valve thrombosis and systemic embolism) is the main drawback of mechanical heart valve prostheses. The patients carrying these valves have to be subjected to life-long anticoagulant therapy to reduce thromboembolism. LÄS MER
28. On the Epidemiology of Soft Tissue Sarcoma and Risk of Cancer following Knee prosthesis surgery. Important factors and methodological notes
29. Noninvasive haemodynamic evaluation of aortic valve prostheses : Doppler echocardiographic studies at rest and during exercise
Sammanfattning : The present series of investigations was designed to supply information on in vivo pressure-flow relationships and to analyse the incidence of regurgitation in different heart valve prostheses in the aortic position. Patients and methods: The study population comprised 185 patients with mechanical Björk-Shiley Monostrut prostheses, 54 patients with Biocor stented porcine bioprostheses, 50 patients with extended Biocor stentless bioprostheses and 59 patients with cryopreserved aortic homografts. 30. Biosynthetic conduits and cell transplantation for neural repair
Sammanfattning : Spinal cord injury results in complete failure of the central neurons to regenerate and is associated with cyst formation and enlargement of the trauma zone. In contrast to the spinal cord, axons in the injured peripheral nerve have the capacity to undergo some spontaneous regeneration. LÄS MER
