  1. 1. Mathematical Modeling of Turbulent Reactive Flows

    Författare :Mikael Mortensen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PMF; CFD; probability density function; chemical reactions; presumed mapping function; PDF; conditional moment closure; turbulent mixing; computational fluid dynamics; CMC;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis has been to study and develop mathematical models of non-premixed turbulent reacting flows. The models developed can be used both by the chemical process industry and for turbulent combustion applications. Furthermore, the models are general and not developed for any specific chemical or mechanical system. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Super-grid Linear Eddy Model (SG-LEM): Efficient mode- and regime-independent combustion closure for Large Eddy Simulation (LES)

    Författare :Abhilash Murlidharan Menon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Large Eddy Simulation; Mapping-closure; Lagrangian splicing; Mesh coarse-graining.; Linear Eddy Model;

    Sammanfattning : Next-generation combustion technology such as ‘lean burn’ and HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) present new challenges for  combustion modelling. The presence of locally varying combustion modes (premixed vs. non-premixed) and regimes (fast/non-fast chemistry vs. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Spinal cord injury : mechanical and molecular aspects

    Författare :Anna Josephson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Spinal cord; syringomyelia; MRI; fMRI; neurotrophin; Nogo; Nogo receptor; regulation;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic spinal cord injury leads to full or partial paralysis and loss of sensation below the level of injury. The annual incidence of spinal cord injury in the United States is 3-5 per 100,000 and in Sweden is 1.5-2 per 100,000. This translates to 11,000 new cases of traumatic spinal cord injury in the US and 150 in Sweden each year. LÄS MER
