6. Additive Manufacturing using Alloy 718 Powder : Influence of Laser Metal Deposition Process Parameters on Microstructural Characteristics
Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing (AM) is a general name used for production methodswhich have the capabilities of producing components directly from 3D computeraided design (CAD) data by adding material layer-by-layer until a final component is achieved. Included here are powder bed technologies, laminated object manufacturing and deposition technologies. LÄS MER
7. Josephson Junctions: Oscillators and Broadband Spectrometers at Frequencies up to 1 THz
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to some selected applications of the Josephson junction oscillator. The initial work was performed using low-Tc Nb/PbBi tunnel junctions, while the later parts were done using the recently developed high-Tc YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) Josephson junctions. LÄS MER
8. Flow and Mixing of Pulp Suspensions
Sammanfattning : When producing pulp and paper, pulp suspensions are treated in a number of unit operations at medium consistency (MC) concentrations (3-15% by weight). Pulp suspensions at these concentrations behave as solids at low shear rates, but at sufficiently high shear rates they start to flow and can even be made to act as water. LÄS MER
9. Unsaturated Solute Transport in a Semiarid Catchment - Nonlinear Analyses and Modelling
Sammanfattning : Unsaturated solute transport is highly variable and therefore difficult to predict. In semi-arid areas, where water resources are limited, the presence of macropores is of great importance for crop production. The bromide ion (Br-) and dye tracers are useful for studies of water movement. LÄS MER
10. Dynamics and Applications of Long Josephson Junctions
Sammanfattning : The first object of this work is to theoretically study the effects of tunnel junction parameters on flux-flow Josephson oscillators (FFOs) by numerical simulation and to experimentally study the rf properties of FFOs by integrating them together with an SIS (superconductor-insulator-superconductor) mixer/detector on a chip. By using a CAD modeled integrated sub-mm wave receiver, the composite linewidth of two FFOs was measured to be less than 2. LÄS MER
