  1. 21. Temperature and the synchrony of plant-insect interactions

    Författare :Tenna Toftegaard; Johan Ehrlén; Karl Gotthard; Christer Wiklund; Annette Menzel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Brassicaceae; Anthocharis cardamines; climate change; development; oviposition; phenology; species interactions; herbivory; synchrony; timing; phenotypic plasticity; local adaptation; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing temperatures resulting from climate change have within recent years been shown to advance phenological events in a large number of species worldwide. Species can differ in their response to increasing temperatures, and understanding the mechanisms that determine the response is therefore of great importance in order to understand and predict how a warming climate can influence both individual species, but also their interactions with each other and the environment. 2. 22. Restoration of semi-natural grasslands : Impacts on biodiversity, ecosystem services and stakeholder perceptions

    Författare :Emelie Waldén; Regina Lindborg; Sara A O Cousins; Erik Öckinger; Aveliina Helm; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biodiversity; Ecosystem services; Farmer; Landscape ecology; Plant; Policy; Restoration; Semi-natural grassland; Biologisk mångfald; Ekosystemtjänster; Landskapsekologi; Lantbrukare; Naturbetesmark; Policy; Restaurering; Växter; Äng; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Humans play a major role shaping the living conditions for not only ourselves, but also all other species on Earth. In fact, some species-rich habitat types require human management to uphold the biodiversity and related ecosystem services. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Wooded or treeless pastures? : Linking policy, farmers' decisions and biodiversity

    Författare :Simon Jakobsson; Regina Lindborg; Sara A O Cousins; Jan Plue; Tim Benton; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Worldwide, biodiversity conservation is one of the key challenges for a sustainable future of nature and society. It is particularly important to preserve high quality habitats within otherwise intensively managed agricultural landscapes. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Comparative morphological studies of fossil and living plane trees (Platanaceae) and oaks (Quercus): taxonomy, ecology, evolution

    Författare :Georg Florian Tschan; Thomas Denk; Ove Eriksson; Bertil Ståhl; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Platanaceae; Platanus; Credneria; Quercus; Galliferae; leaf architecture; epidermal anatomy; comparative morphology; character variation; variability; sample size; diversity patterns; species concepts; ecology; biogeography; evolution; plant fossils; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Morphological characters are essential for flowering plant identification, but also provide information about diversity patterns and ecological adaptation. In woody plant species, characters of the leaf are among the most useful and can be examined on fossils as well. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Genetic variability and nitrogenase activity of cyanobacterial communities associated with tropical seagrass meadows (western Indian Ocean)

    Författare :Mariam Hamisi; Birgitta Bergman; Thomas Lyimo; Beatriz Díez; Lucas Stal; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cyanobacteria; nitrogenase activity; diazotrophs; seagrass; western Indian ocean; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Tropical seagrass ecosystems are highly productive and important for sustaining marine life and associated coastal societies. In this study, the diversity and role of nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria associated with five common seagrass genera in coastal regions of the western Indian Ocean (WIO; Tanzania) were examined, as well as the impact of anthropogenic activities.
