  1. 11. Clinically-driven angiography after coronary artery bypass surgery : Results from the SWEDEHEART registry

    Författare :Mikael Janiec; Rickard Lindblom; Stefan Thelin; Alexander Wahba; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CABG; Coronary artery bypass surgery; angiography; graft failure; Thorax Surgery; Thoraxkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The success of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) arguably depends on the patency rate of the conduits. The saphenous vein grafts (SVGs) most often used are subject to graft disease and their reduced long-term patency compared to left internal mammary artery (IMA) grafts is well established. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Infrainguinal Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty in Limbs with Severe Lower Limb Ischaemia

    Författare :Anne-Marie Löfberg; Wojciech Cwikiel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; infrainguinal; chronic ischaemia; percutaneous transluminal angioplasty; duplex; bypass grafts; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; radiologi; Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : Infrainguinal bypass grafting is an established method in the treatment of patients with femoropopliteal and crural occlusive disease leading to critical lower limb ischaemia (CLI). However, complications related to surgical procedure are not negligible and percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) has emerged as an alternative. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Prevention of intimal hyperplasia after balloon angioplasty and / or stent insertion. or How to mend a broken heart - Just say NO

    Författare :Jan Harnek; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Remodeling. Endothelium-derived factors. Self-expanding stents. Restenosis. Scanning -electron microscopy. Endothelial factors. Nitric oxide. Intimal hyperplasia. Angioplasty. Stents. Interventional procedures. Endothelium.;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Restenosis is the most frequently occurring adverse event after percutaneous intravascular treatment of atherosclerotic lesions, which limits long-term patency of the intervention. Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate if minimizing vascular injury during treatment by insertion of self-expanding stents or modifying the reparative mechanisms by local drug delivery can reduce restenosis. 4. 14. Interactions between leukocytes, platelets and the endothelium in vein graft failure

    Författare :Chi-Nan Tseng; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Autologous venous grafts are preferred conduits in bypass surgery due to their length, easy harvesting, and feasibility. However, development of intimal hyperplasia decreases long-term patency rate in venous grafts prompting close clinical surveillance and further intervention. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Strategies to improve outcome in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction treated with primary PCI

    Författare :Tim Tödt; Eva Swahn; Jan Engvall; Magnus Janzon; Stefan James; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) caused by a ruptured atherosclerotic plaque with overlying thrombosis leads to ischemia and progressively to the death of the myocardial cells supplied by the affected coronary artery. Rapid reperfusion with primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) in an experienced centre is the preferred therapy for these patients. LÄS MER
