16. Synthesis and application of β-configured [18/19F]FDGs : Novel prosthetic CuAAC click chemistry fluoroglycosylation tools for amyloid PET imaging and cancer theranostics
Sammanfattning : Positron emission tomography (PET) is a non-invasive imaging method that renders three-dimensional images of tissue that selectively has taken up a radiolabelled organic compound, referred to as a radiotracer. This excellent technique provides clinicians with a tool to monitor disease progression and to evaluate how the patient respond to treatment. LÄS MER
17. Fluorescent thiophene-based ligands for detection and characterization of disease-associated protein aggregates
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the unique optical properties of fluorescent ligands termed luminescent conjugated oligothiophenes (LCOs) have been used to study a variety of protein aggregates associated with human protein misfolding disease. This heterogeneous group of diseases contains well known and fatal members such as Alzheimer´s and Huntington´s disease and the development of sensitive tools for the detection and characterization of protein aggregates is crucial for unravelling the complexity of these pathologies. 18. Luminescence properties of flexible conjugated dyes
Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis the luminescence properties of two flexible conjugated dyes have been studied. The first, Pt1, is a platinum(II) acetylide chromophore used in optical power limiting materials. LÄS MER
19. Organic Heavy Group 14 Element Compounds : A Study of Their Chemical Bonding Properties Directed Towards Applications as Molecular Wires and in Synthesis
Sammanfattning : The research described herein includes synthesis, spectroscopy, and quantum chemical calculations with focus on the characteristic properties of compounds with bonds between carbon and the heavier Group 14 elements. The chapters based on the first four papers concern σ- and σ/π-conjugated compounds, although the focus of the first paper is on ring strain of bicyclo[1. 20. Molecular and epigenetic control of CNS tumour and progenitor cells
Sammanfattning : Despite advances in diagnosis and treatment, CNS tumours continue to result in high mortality and morbidity. Glioblastoma mutliforme (GBM), the most common primary brain tumour, is a recurrent tumour that despite advances in treatment, continues to demonstrate a median time of survival of 14.6 months.
