  1. 6. Arctic Ocean benthic foraminifera preservation and Mg/Ca ratios : Implications for bottom water palaeothermometry

    Författare :Natalia Barrientos; Helen Coxall; Martin Jakobsson; Steve Barker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic Ocean; benthic foraminifera; Mg Ca-temperature; calcite preservation; Marine Geology; maringeologi;

    Sammanfattning : Reconstructions of Arctic Ocean palaeotemperatures are needed to disentangle natural variability from anthropogenic changes and understand the role of ocean heat transport in forcing or providing feedbacks on Arctic climate change. Despite known complications with calcareous microfossil preservation in Arctic Ocean sediments, calcareous benthic foraminifera can be common in interglacial sequences. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Anthropogenic influence on climate through changes in aerosol emissions from air pollution and land use change

    Författare :Juan Camilo Acosta Navarro; Ilona Riipinen; Annica M.L. Ekman; Hans-Christen Hansson; Risto Makkonen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; Air quality; Land use; General circulation; Atmosphere-Ocean interactions; Aerosol climate effects; Earth system modelling; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Particulate matter suspended in air (i.e. aerosol particles) exerts a substantial influence on the climate of our planet and is responsible for causing severe public health problems in many regions across the globe. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Assessing Mineral Resource Scarcity in a Circular Economy Context

    Författare :Hampus André; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; resource-efficiency; area of protection - natural resources; electric and electronic equipment; supply risk; scarce metals; criticality assessment; material flow analysis; life cycle assessment; circular economy; complex products;

    Sammanfattning : Due to humanity’s dependence on metal resources there are growing concerns regarding impacts related to their potential scarcity, both for current and future generations. The vision of a more circular economy suggests that extending the functional use of metals through measures aiming for resource-efficiency (RE) such as increasing technical lifetime, repairing and recycling could reduce mineral resource scarcity. 4. 9. Modelling climate change impacts on pesticide leaching : uncertainty and scenario analysis at field and regional scales

    Författare :Karin Anna Steffens; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change projections for Sweden indicate increases in both temperature and precipitation. In a warmer and wetter climate, weed and pest pressures are likely to increase, which might in turn trigger an increased use of pesticides. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The Nitrogen Cycle in Soil - Climate Impact and Methodological Challenges in Natural Ecosystems

    Författare :Anna-Karin Björsne; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nitrogen cycle; 15N tracing experiments; gross N transformation rates; climate change; climate treatments; mineralization; nitrification; forest fertilization; nitrous oxide emissions; boreal forest soil; tree species; soil organic matter; C:N ratio;

    Sammanfattning : Nitrogen (N) is a fundamental element for life, and limiting in many terrestrial ecosystems. In non-N-fertilized ecosystems, the N inputs can be low, and the nutrient availability for plants is determined by the internal cycling of N. LÄS MER
